To be pissed off that I am still at work?

Its commonly known that we work a short day on Christmas Eve. Usually knocking off around 2pm. I haven't got lunch as I assume I will be going early. I and many of my colleagues have nothing left to do and are sitting around twiddling our thumbs, we could all go home. I'm hungry, board and fed up and just want out.

I'm the fucking boss.

But my idiotic, martyr, stingy Grinch like business partner is determined to make everyone work as long as possible. His estimate is that we can knock off some time around 3.30. By the time we have locked down and locked up for the shut down I will be lucky to be home by 5pm.

My DH is already on the way home after festive drinks with work mates.

Business Partner is also family member. Would it be wrong to poison his turkey tomorrow with laxatives to get my own back.

Poison his turkey? No jury would convict.

Can you take an executive decision and close up? It's Chriiiiiiiiiiiistmas!

LadyLuck10 Wed 24-Dec-14 14:19:58

If he's your business partner then he has the same say as you. If you say close then it's closed! Send everyone on their way.

Tell your business partner to get with the festive spirit and let everyone go home!

Butterpuff Wed 24-Dec-14 14:20:34

I wish I could, but he has initiated a process which keeps 2 employees busy for the next hour or so and cant be stopped half way through without me knowing. It would be unfair to send the rest of them home.

If he's your partner then you have as much say as he does, tell everyone to go home!

Unescorted Wed 24-Dec-14 14:22:02

I am waiting for the magic exit email too... at this rate Christmas eve dinner is going to be beans on toast

Letthemtalk Wed 24-Dec-14 14:22:07

What is the process and can't you and your partner do it? Send the rest home!!!

Rebecca2014 Wed 24-Dec-14 14:22:40

Well next year make sure you get more of a say. Don't let him take over...

Butterpuff Wed 24-Dec-14 14:23:43

Even he is sitting sending personal emails with his feet up while we could have all gone home had he not started x and y on an unimportant job that now cant be stopped.

I am so going to put laxatives in his Turkey.

hope you can knock off soon op!

FantasticMrsClaus Wed 24-Dec-14 14:26:15

Other teams are away home but we're here until 4pm. Bah humbug

Lj8893 Wed 24-Dec-14 14:27:10

Laxatives in turkey certainly a good idea though!

Am hanging around a shopping centre using their free wifi waiting for dh to be let off. Once hes been let off we can go to pil. Am on mn but down to 30% power so he better hurry up. I feel your pain op. Turkey poisioning seems very sensible.

londonrach Wed 24-Dec-14 14:32:28

Ipad spelling gone to pot

BaffledSomeMore Wed 24-Dec-14 14:34:57

Dish everyone else's lunch up at 1pm. Tell him he can have his at half 3.

adsy Wed 24-Dec-14 14:35:17

I'm still at work but only have one mindee who is fast asleep leaving me lots of time to mn and make chocolate mousse.

EMS23 Wed 24-Dec-14 14:38:15

Feel your pain. Waiting for boss to give the early exit nod but have a horrible hunch that he might not, for various reasons. Boo.

FunkyBoldRibena Wed 24-Dec-14 14:40:30

he has initiated a process which keeps 2 employees busy for the next hour

Take over this and send everyone you employ home - you and him finish this off and then go.

I'd have called it at midday and taken them to the pub for a lemonade.

Butterpuff Wed 24-Dec-14 14:44:38

Baffled I LOVE your idea. Has cheered me up hugely.

Am of course grateful that once we do get away today we don't have to work again until after the shutdown 5th Jan for us so we are very lucky.

Its just the scrooge like attitude that is keeping everyone here with no real need to do it that is grating on my nerves.

adsy Wed 24-Dec-14 14:46:32

I agree that you and partner should do the task and send all the employees home right now!

Butterpuff Wed 24-Dec-14 14:48:57

I thought about that Funky, but it is not something that I am trained to do so I can't volunteer. Needs two of them.

I have just spent the last 20 minutes raffling off the gifts that we have been given by suppliers. So at least everyone looks happier now even if they keep looking at the door and twitching.

londonrach Wed 24-Dec-14 14:50:04

Im off to wait in the car as i cant stay here anymore. Merry christmas everyone and i hope op you get off soon xxx

adsy Wed 24-Dec-14 14:50:34

Can't you send everyone else home and give the 2 task people an extra good pressie from the stash ( plus nip out and get bottle of bubbly each for them)

DastardlyDachshund Wed 24-Dec-14 14:51:03

I feel your pain. I am at home today with the dc but my husband doesn't finish until 6 and then has to get home. We estimate he will be home around 7 or possibly after. He started at around 7 this morning too fsad. Hoping that most people will be at home already and not shopping so the roads will be clear for him to get home quickly. The plan is to get him installed in a more reasonable job by next Christmas......
