I'm still thinking about mine.

I definitely want to cook from scratch much more often.

Try to spend more of my money locally rather than at bigger businesses when I can afford it.

And get to yoga more often.

You?

DH and I have a joint one, to make an extra £1000 this year on top of wages. He wanted it to be £10,000 until I pointed out that's actually higher than my annual wage! So far I won money on a scratch card (I do not condone gambling!Smile) and will get £100 when I my current account switch goes through. So we're off to a good start.

i'm 40 next year, I'm going to make a list of 40 things I want to achieve next year and see how many I can tick off! Not all massive things, but something I can point to next christmas and say 'yup, did that'. Two of the biggies are to stop smoking and lose two stone, but other stuff are things like 'do the nano', read 50 books (again) and redecorate my bedroom.

Haven't really thought about it till now, but New Years means a milestone birthday as well and the end of my twenties, so here goes :)

Having a PFB (not exactly a resolution more of all organs working well! Will try for the first time ever in Jan 2015)
Achieving target A in career (halfway there)
Achieving target B in career (nearly there but exciting final stages)
Cooking from scratch more often (do this, but fatigue gets the better of us at times)
Learning to blank out people who manage to piss me off (FIL, not-so-DM for e.g)
Keeping up saving habits
Staying healthy

Gosh - how my resolutions have changed.....the lists would be uber specific, uber long, uber ambitious. And now suddenly it's id different. Come on milestone birthday, hit me!

I shall be 50 next September, so I will nick that idea Dwerf...

1 of 50: Stop working in education: should be done by Easter as I have already handed in my notice [relief]

Just another 49 to think of...

I've realised that the first thing I look at it the morning, and last thing at night (except for when I'm staying at DP's), is my phone or iPad. I will even switch off my bedside light, settle down and then think "ooh I'll check the news".

I need to change this. It's not healthy. I don't even do anything productive!

nomama I'm thinking a few of them should be treat-type things. Like 'have a weekend away'. 'sort out next tattoo' and 'go to the theatre'.

Oh yes! Mine should really focus on regaining a social life. I realise that I don't have friends, just work colleagues. I need to get out and meet people... not parents.

We have just moved into a small market town... should be lots of opportunities to meet new people!

One of my biggest resolutions is to take a step back from any activities that come with baggage. I'm not interested in mixing with cliquey collections of people who drain the joy out of life. I'm also not doing anything that I didn't enjoy last year regardless of whether "everyone else" is.

I'm also keeping things "local". I cherish the fact that my DH's health is better than it has been for nearly 2 years. I don't plan to take that for granted or spend more time away from him than is necessary.

I think I just want to embrace life a bit more and stop being so grouchy all the time. I didn't used to be this way and I'm note sure why I've changed

Put my myself first, for the first time ever.

This will encompass a more careful diet, exercise, hobbies, relaxation (which I know all about but never, ever do). I'm worried if I carry on like I am, I will end up really ill.

This won't be at the cost of my family, but it might involve getting rid of people who sap my energy and some very considered thought about what I want out of my career. I've chased a senior role for years, and now it is looming, I'm not convinced it will do anything apart from sap my time for little financial reward.

Try and be happy. And if something is making me unhappy, try and change it.

Dwerf I am 40 next year too. It is a good idea but I don't think I'll have time for 40 things next year. My aim for next year is to maintain my day job, get my business off the ground and be operational in 2 sites next year plus be a good mum to 2 year old DS. I also want to eat healthily and write down 5 this I am grateful for every day. I have been feeling overwhelmed recently (read grouchy quiero!) and it makes me feel low so this helps. Also need to do yoga more - 4 times a week.
However if I end next year with my family and friends all happy and healthy, I'll take that.
If a lovely man who I fancy and makes me laugh turns up, that would be nice too, but realistically 2015 is not that year for that.

Report
PollyIndia · 23/12/2014 21:10

Actually, if they are treat things, I could do 40 of them - in fact, I should for my own sanity!
