AIBU?

to think dh could have complemented me

It was our wedding anniversary today. We went out for a meal tonight, he wanted to get a takeaway or ignore the occasion
I took a great deal of trouble getting ready. AIbu to think he could have complemented me on my appearance just this once. Not a third world problem I know but I feel very dejected .

Happy anniversary OP. Sorry you were feeling ignored.

If it helps, my make up was fab today. I mean really brilliant, better than ive ever managed before. I waited and waited for someone to compliment me but no. So when i got home i asked DS if he thought my make-up was nice. His response? "Its just a face mum" Hmm Grin

YANBU at all, I would be hurt too.

Can you talk to him about it? I mean, takeaway and no fuss could be nice if you're not big on anniversaries, but there needs to be agreement, and ignoring you isn't on.

Is he one for normally complementing your appearance or noticing changes? If so then I think YANBU. But if he is anything like my DH he just wouldn't notice.

Happy Anniversary!

Please look up the difference between complEment and complIment. Puts a whole different perspective on your thread ...

YANBU. That can be one of the downsides of LTRs. He could've thrown you a bone, right?

By the way, it's 'complimented'. Complemented means something else. Blush

Is there really any need to pick the OP up on her spelling?

Report
twoopsie · 23/12/2014 09:27

Yabvvu some people don't have a dh and can't afford makeup. ;)

Seriously though, ignore the fools going on about spelling. This would hurt me, but maybe he prefers you more natural? How was the sex?

Some people cannot resist belittling other people for their spelling can they?

OP I would have been a bit miffed too, does he normally compliment you?

Report
diddl · 23/12/2014 09:33

it would have been nice if he'd said something, but if he never usually does, why exoect different this time/

If I'm happy with the way I look, I don't really care what others think.

i've never complimented my husband on his appearance, come to think of it.

I am suitably chastised regarding the spelling.

What does complemented mean? Blush

Report
misskangaandroo2014 · 23/12/2014 11:21

Complement is something that goes with something nicely (so wearing clothes to co-ordinate or think of foods, cheese and crackers or stawberries and cream).

It's not a spelling dig though, the opening post asked if 'just this once, husband could have worn an outfit which enhanced or 'went with' Punkrocker's' - completely different question!

Anyway, of course you're not unreasonable - tell him you were left wanting and insist that you both dress up for fish & chips tonight or something.

Happy anniversary and congrats on looking so fab last night!
