...to think about cow sex?

I mean why they do it? Are they thinking about bringing baby cows into the world or satisfying a primal urge? Do bulls just want what every human male wants: to find 20 or 30 nice ladies to settle down with and spend your days humping them in a field?

Have you never heard the sheer noise of a cow in season? Pretty primal.

Why cows? Why not jellyfish or hummingbirds or salmon?

You should think more about slug sex. It's amazing.

Presumably, it makes a nice change from standing and eating grass. Or lying down. Due to selective breeding I don't think they have the opportunity for normal sex as and when they feel like it.

I wouldn't worry about it OP. Most cows are artificially inseminated these days anyway.

So no chance of romance for cows then?

What about the angler fish where the male ends up just being a tiny head embedded in the side of the female? No way would I get involved in that.

Agree with rumbelina...David Attenborough showed a thing with a type of slugs having sex. Was bloody fascinating!

Primal urge I reckon. I doubt cows / bulls have made the link between sex and babies.

I think I read somewhere that primate are the only other things that mate for pleasure.

Everything else is preservation of the species.

I think you'll find nobody mates with me for pleasure!

I have seen slugs having sex in my garden. Couldn't tear my eyes away! Felt very vuyeuristic.

Covered them up with a leaf in the end.

I thought primates and (i think) dolphins were the only other species to mate for pleasure?

All others will only have sex to reproduce I believe.

The bull will only go after a cow when she smells right, and the cow will only stand for the bull when she's ready, so no recreational shagging. A bull on it's own (or in a field of ladies) is a happy chap, docile and easy to handle - our old boy always walked straight into the trailer as it meant new food and/or new ladies, it's only when you put males together that they become shirty.

Also I once saw a video of a chimpanzee masturbating with an open mouthed frog.

That's not an image you can forget in a hurry.

The chimpanzee/frog thing IS an image I had managed to forgot. Until now. Thanks for that Xmas Shock

Poor frog! Unless of course it was consensual.

You mean the frog wasn't just staring in open-mouthed shock?

""I think I read somewhere that primate are the only other things that mate for pleasure""

As Zoos have got better, we've learned that lots of species have sex for pleasure.

There were two Male Russian Polar Bears that used to suck each other off. Homosexual sex is common, well any type of sex, really.

As a Vegan against all forms of animal cruelty/abuse, it just adds to the list of how we oppress animals, unnessesarily.

I really don't want to think about what Cows and particularly Pigs (who are as intelligent as dogs) are subjected to and denied, daily.

Oops sorry festive!!

Poor frog indeed. The chimp did look rather pleased with himself though.

I also read somewhere that there is a chimp in a zoo (unsure where exactly) that regularly watches porn on tv.
