AIBU?

To be seething with rage with an online retailer

I placed an order for a set of three personalised tennis balls on the 10th of December as little Christmas present for our dog. Paid for the balls and got a confirmation email, great. Delivery was meant to take about 5 working days so was expecting them to have arrived or at least be posted by now.
Tonight I happened to be looking through my junk email to find one from a lady at the company I placed the order with saying that the email I had sent regarding the colour of the balls has been misplaced and could I remind her what colour I wanted. I was never asked to specify a colour in the first place, just how many balls I wanted and the name to be printed. This email was dated the 17/12, the day the gift was supposed to arrive. I know the dog won't know any different if she gets the balls after Christmas, nor will she care, I'm just a bit miffed that that not only have the company gone over the guaranteed delivery date they have lied about asking me to specify a colour and are only addressing it now. AIBU to be so annoyed over something so trivial?

I would say so. I'm sure your dog won't mind normal tennis balls.

In the thread title you're 'seething with rage'. In the post you're 'a bit miffed'.

So which is it?

Still, kudos on having a dog that can read.

"Seething with rage" because your dog might not get personalised tennis balls by Christmas? Better not look at the newspapers, then, because if that makes you seethe with rage then what happened in Pakistan is liable to make your head explode.

I get why you're annoyed - it looks like they know they can't fulfil your order so have used the specifying a colour - but,

He won't care, he's a dog.

Cancel the order, buy a 'normal' set of balls, buy a marker, personalise yourself!

I'm sure the dog would love your 'homemade' balls more as they have your scent on.

This gift is fabulous. If you think they're using the colour thing as an excuse, then why not try to trick them out? Would you like one half fluroescent magenta and the other half a sultry matt indigo? I certainly would...

I'm so sorry OP, only got one sentence in before I started laughing. Grin

Don't get a rage on, life's too short. Go cuddle your dog for a while, its great at reducing stress you know.

Tbf I've bought the cat a Christmas present. Wish I'd thought to get it personalised.

The fact that they're for your dog is irrelevant.

The service is poor.

Personalised dog balls! What a great idea. Now if another cheeky dog tries to run off with your ball, you have actual proof of ownership.

A big piss off to those who think this shouldn't be discussed because worse things happen in the world. Sure, like you're not going through to get annoyed about anything little yourselves today. Talk of the Pakistan attack is foolish - it clearly doesn't necessarily follow that the OP doesn't care about that just because of this minor irritation.

YANBU, because the service for this purchase isn't acceptable at all. Sure it's not the end of the world, but you paid your money and you should get the products within the specified time.

I think you could ask for a refund as the estimated delivery date won't happen. Then you could buy something else for your dog at a Pets At Home shop. They all have nice 'special Christmas gifts' at the moment for pets.

My fil in Africa aged over 80 has been suffering from typhoid (just last week)
We had to send an emergency money transfer to get him (in a taxi, no ambulances) to a basic clinic. He's skeletally thin from vomiting and diarrhoeia, delirious with a very high temperature and couldn't eat. We sent more money for intravenous antibiotics and easily digestible food. There was only rice in their shanty shack. He's over the worst now. The typhoid is endemic there because their 'toilet', like most out there, is just a stinking hole in the ground.

Personalised tennis balls for a dog. Hmmmm...
