I like the illridewithyou thing in Sydney at the moment.

Where have you read about it?

I've sensed something different. Like a feeling like " this is one step too far, to blame Muslims for this Sydney thing". Sort of like when bullies realise they've gone too far?

I agree with you. Religions are at their best kind and supportive, albeit a load of old rubbish and fairy stories and at worst pernicious and evil.

It's the turn of Islam to be twisted and used.

Not sure how it's going to be solved but as ever you kill the mad and negotiate with the bad.

That sorted Ireland.

Have you searched #illridewithyou?

It might cheer you up a bit. I was proud today that so many in Sydney responded without hatred to what happened here.

being Christian is even scarier in Muslim countries.

Agree adsy

Sorry, but it is the only mainstream religion which has misogynism entrenched into it's everyday values.
Don't bother with telling me what the Koran says, I'm talking about about how whole countries interpret it and make the women live.

Its always gone on though, just different targets, Muslim s being the current one.
My mum being Irish and living in the UK since the 70s was verbally abused all the time, the bus driver used to scream down the bus watch out she has a bomb while everyone stared at us, it was so humiliating.
I hope the majority of people are enlightened enough to know that he was just a lunatic.

All religions are mysogynistic. All are about power and control.

Doesn't mean all those practising are bad people just brainwashed.

Trouble is brainwashing can lead to acts of terror as we have seen in all religions.

Religion gives evil people a pass card to perpetrate vile acts be that infant genial mutilation of both sexes, planting bombs, killing those of other religions, forced marriages, the list goes on.

Our culture has moved on from that though and these things are no longer acceptable in our society"
Exactly. we have moved on.
Did you fail to read my last post where I said it's all about how the books are interpreted? Can you name me a country where the vast majority think menstruating women are unclean? I'm all ears.
The difference is ( repeating myself) that muslim countries still live by their interpretation of a very old, misogynist, superstitious book.

Whatsthewhatsthebody Tue 16-Dec-14 09:43:35

Oh no quotes this early surely.

All religious books are full of hate so it's pointless trying to out quote each other.

adsy Tue 16-Dec-14 09:45:06

broken you're really not getying this are you? Christian countries don't tend to live by the bible so quoting further passages of superstition is irrelevant
