AIBU?

To not like fruit in puddings?

Pyjamaramadrama · 13/12/2014 12:22

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like fruit in puddings.

I love fruit on it's own, I eat every type of fruit going for snacks. But I hate it in puddings.

To me it tastes all fake and soggy, to me a pudding should be chocolatey or with caramel, cream or custard. I don't mind a bit of jam in a victoria sponge cake, or fruity flavoured things but actual pieces of fruit are just no.

So I'll eat fresh blueberries with some Greek yoghurt, but I don't like fruit that's been sat in the yoghurt, it tastes soggy and a bit bitter.

Is there anyone with me?

No. Apple crumble and Eve's pudding are two of my favourite puddings.

I prefer berries just as they are though, except for summer pudding. Pears, peaches and nectarines are nicest just as they are, but I love lemon in lots of things - lemon drizzle cake, lemon meringue pie etc.

YABU. I love fruit crumble. But anything with raisins in it is clearly wrong

DD (12) hates cooked fruit too... she will tolerate jam or lemon-curd - but crumbles/pies/stewed fruit - NO..

I do love lemon drizzle cake actually but I think that's because they haven't actually got lumps of fruit.

I don't like apple crumble or apple pie.

YABU. I find a space for fruit (or veg!) in most of my baking. Fruitless cakes and puddings always seem unsatisfying and sickly.

I love fruity puddings but DH (mostly) hates them. The exceptions (that I can think of) are cherry pie and banana cake. He especially hates apple in cake. But then he doesn't particularly eat fruit.

Are you me? Every fricking year my mother tried to give me fruitcake. And every year I have to tell her I hate fruitcake!

I used to take it into work for everyone to eat but I don't work in an office now so I just have to say 'I have never liked bloody fruitcake!'

Yuk.

I do make a fab lemon tart but as you say - no actual fruit in there. Can't stand it in cereals either unless I've added it myself.

I totally agree OP. Fruit shouldn't be in puddings, with meat or on pizza. It should be enjoyed in its own.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one. Everyone in rl loves fruity puddings.

I agree I don't like fruit in cereal unless I've put it in there.

YANBU. There are a few exceptions: Apple crumble, lemon drizzle cake, Bakewell tart. Mince pies. That's all. For actual puddings I expect chocolate.

I love fruit and I love fruit in puddings. I don't like many other types of pudding and don't eat chocolate.

I am not a massive fruit person. I much prefer veg and salad. I only eat a few fruits (kiwis, strawberries, orange melon, peeled granny smith apples, pomegranate seeds - I know I'm far too fussy)

I cannot abide fruit in desserts. Hate cooked fruit, the texture makes me feel ill. I'd sooner forgo dessert altogether.

YANBU, I have always hated fruit in puddings. I can't stand cooked fruit at all. I love fruit uncooked and will eat any sort. But cooking it. Yuck. Plus pineapple on pizza truly is the work of the devil. Glad I am not alone in my cooked fruit hate.

Do you not like trifle then? There is another thread debate raging atm whether jelly should be in a trifle. They all agree that fruit, cream & custard should be in it though. You are missing out OP, nothing like a proper homemade custard with fruit in it!

I have a shocking and shameful confession. I like Birds trifle! Otherwise I eat around the fruit.

Hahaha! It's all coming out now OP! Just put a spoonful of the fruit into your mouth along with a big spoon of custard. You know you want to!

I will excuse the heresy that is Birds trifle as the most important thing is for you to try the fruit.

Yanbu I am 100% with you, I will eat fruit as fruit but in puddings it is just wrong!
