AIBU?

Another Christmas card one

Got a card in the post today from DH's father and step-mum. One of those special cards that say "son and daughter in law" on them. So far so good, right?

Inside it's addressed to , & girls. I have two dd and they have names.

AIBU to think this is another indication of how our DDs mean fuck all to them? I'll admit that there is a backstory I won't go into and if it came from MIL or my parents I probably wouldn't be so pissed off (but then they wouldn't do that).

I think you're overthinking it because of the back story. It wouldn't occur to me to be upset/offended by that.

YAB ridiculously U! "Girls" is in common use for female children in a family. You really need to relax.

Thank you! It was the use of girls combined with the bit on the front of the card but I know deep down that it's just that it's from them. Some people can't do right for doing wrong, eh?

(Second disclaimer: dd2 has been up every night for a week with a cough so I'm surviving on very little sleep).

It sounds quite impersonal. I only use it for colleagues/acquaintances whose children's names I've forgotten. Wouldn't expect it from family at all. However, you do seem irrationally angry, but I suppose there is a reason/back story for this.

I refer to my two dds as girls often. About them and to them. I know their names and I really love them!
