AIBU?

To irrationally detest the Dolce & Gabbana The One advert?

Trying to be stylish with its cryptic nonsense. "We never needed anything back then." Oh shut up or I'll fling you from this sky scraper. Such a steaming pile of utter cack.

I agree, annoyed me from the first time I saw it.

Is that the Scarlett one?

its better than the chanel no5 advert with its arsenumbingly dull "you're the one that I want" cover which seems to suggest some kind of emotional abuse?!

Isn't it awful? "It likes you back" indeed. What a steaming pile of arse.

Awful isn't it? I complain everytime it's on and my DH gets annoyed with me. Crap dialogue.

Why can they just pretend to bonk like Chris Whatshisface from Captain America and the lovely Evan Wood

My bugbear is 'Chloe, pick up the phone'. I get unnaturally riled whenever I hear it.

Oops sorry Rachel Evan Wood in the weird motorbike perfume advert?

Ah apparently it's meant to be two former lovers meeting up and the awkwardness is because there is still an attraction - hence 'the one'.

I can see why they didn't last as a couple, they had a weird way of conversing with each other!!

Oh yes waffily the Chanel No 5 ad is awful!

That face that Gisele pulls as she's sitting on the surf board. She looks like she has just realised she has crapped herself.

WTF is it all about?

Haven't seen the Dolce & Gabbana one OP... or if I have it has made absolutely no impression on me whatsoever!

I hate most perfume ads....especially the cool water one that appears before shows on fx..... It makes me go red ross!!

Thank you for this thread. The smug faces and terrible dialogue in this advert make me so irrationally pissed off. my husband now changes it if it comes on because I rant.

Another one that gets me is the no7 advert that says women look in the mirror several times a day to check for changes....I had a baby 10 weeks ago and think I have looked in a mirror twice since then (ha I know is just me but find that advert indulgent and nonsense. I never looked in the mirror that much before baby either).

Yanbu, I'm the same. Every time it comes on I groan and whinge, it gives me the rage. Just seen the chanel no 5 one for the first time, a three minute advert- really?! The song is sung beautifully but the lyric changes leave a lot to be desired... "you better shape up cos you need a man." Erm... And all that pointless flailing and twirling around Hmm.

Oh, and Matthew 'Bongo' Mchonnagagaghy is far too old for Scarlett Johansson.

Dolce and gabbana should hang their heads in shame. Didn't one of them go to jail at some point? I bet it was for less than this crime of an advert

Yes, another one here. I get annoyed with the advert and everyone else gets annoyed with me.

It's not a conversation! They're just saying random shite, like Brick in Anchorman. My dress likes you back. I enjoy a good pair of slacks. I love lamp.

It's slightly redeemed by the way MM looks at his watch in the end, though. Such an unconvincing watch-check. It's like my daughter loudly talking on her phone, which is a banana. M 'bongo' M is a better actor than that, so I assume he's taking the piss and getting ready to collect his cheque.

There's nothing irrational about hating it, OP.

I don't get why they pick such fucking dreadful actors for these ads, either. Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Matthew 'Rom Com Lifer' McConaughey... they're all so bloody wooden.

As for that Gisele ad... just don't.

However, I can forgive that excruciating Bleu de Chanel ad (Martin Scorsese directed it, in his sleep by the looks of things) because Gaspard Ulliel's in it and I would renounce my mother for him Grin

Oh fuck yeah, I want to smack the pair of them.

And the 'pick up the phone one'

And Valentina...

I quite like the lady millions ones-they at least are not trying to be cryptic.

Report
AnotherGirlsParadise · 11/12/2014 09:47

I don't think I could ever buy a perfume called Lady Millions.

'Oooh what's that you're wearing?'
'Lady Millions.'

I'd sound a right cunt.

YANBU for detesting it, but YABU for thinking detesting it is irrational.

I think the Chloe ad is the worst, it gives me the creeps.

DS1 and me love the Bleu de Chanel one, because it signifies the start of the Christmas season for us Grin. Neither of us understands it, though.

They seemed to have shortened it and they no longer show the bit where he storms off at the end, all moody Sad.
