have confirmed today that I will be visiting parents for Christmas, we live in different countries and the last time I saw them was around february of this year.

so all really happy about xmas plans. mum as usual posts on facebook about how happy she is...tags me in it and all her buddies are commenting about this. 60 odd likes and about 30 odd comments. fair enough.

so my cousin comments something silly to me and tags me in it so we have a bit of banter. of course im now in the thread of comments.

mum pipes up and cousin posts a picture with the words beloved aunt...

so I am immediately reminded of larry david in curb your enthusiasm where he mixes up the 'a' with a 'c' to get beloved cunt. and I go and post something to that effect...its odd sense of humour, I figured my cousin would appreciate it.

now mum thinks I've called her a cunt. help. she won't talk to me now

does any of that make sense?

Just post your mum the link to this thread.

She probably won't read it. I'd just grovel, personally.

grovelling seems the way.
off to youtube now to post the link of the sketch im talking about.

In fairness, one of the funniest Larry David episodes. Tricky situation to get out of. Something like Larry David would do actually

ithoughtofitfirst Mon 08-Dec-14 21:04:48

Oh good God. This is absolutely something that would happen to me.

WowserBowser Mon 08-Dec-14 21:07:24

That is a really funny episode!

Surely your Mum will realise you didn't/wouldn't call her a cunt once she's calmed down?!

just had a message from sister.
mum has taken this serious!

oh dear. sister trying to explain

perhaps I wont be travelling home for Christmas.

I can't help but snigger. Unhelpful, sorry.

BananaLeaf Mon 08-Dec-14 21:10:49

Was it this picture? grin

scratchandsniff Mon 08-Dec-14 21:10:59

This is why Mum's shouldn't be on Facebook grin

ithoughtofitfirst Mon 08-Dec-14 21:12:10

But surely calling her a cunt would be completely out of the blue and out of character?? She must know that. The penny will drop once she's calmed down.

NamesNick Mon 08-Dec-14 21:12:19

there is no way she believes I've called her a cunt. impossible as she knows me ??

I think it's more to do with the way her Facebook buddies could misinterpret my humour and therfore mum does not have the loving daughter she boasts about all over Facebook

she lives her life on the thing, and because of this all her buddies have an unrealistic view of me perhaps...? I don't know

AnyoneforTurps Mon 08-Dec-14 21:12:34

"she won't talk to me now"

Any adult refusing to talk to any other adult has lost the moral high ground wink

(I don't mean NC because of abuse etc - I mean sulking. Twice as pathetic if it's about something on FB.).

NamesNick Mon 08-Dec-14 21:15:44

fwiw. I do love my mum, but im just a normal daughter with a normal relationship with mum.

now she is being a cunt grin

Did your mother actually see your comment?

I struggle how she could see it as you calling her a cunt, unless she has no sense of humour or is a drama queen.
