Here you go npd explained

I grew up with a narc mother. I was abused by her from the age of 5. Many of the posters on the Stately Homes thread grew up with parents with Narcissitic Personality Disorder (not all obviously)

Are you worried someone you are close to is a narc or was it just a musing?

Without wishing to sound like a bitch - if you don't know then I'm jealous! grin

There is a difference between being a true, diagnosed narc (which is a quantifiable personality disorder) and having narc traits (someone who may or may not have narc personality disorder).

You might have come across the term "toxic" too - they often go hand in hand/ are interchangeable.

Once you read that Mothership people pop into your brain as being very reminiscent of those traits.....

It may be that when you look into narc behaviour that you discover that you actually know someone with those traits. It took me a long time to realise that it wasn't "just me" and my "irrational reactions" to a person/situation, but that the person in question was the one at the root of the problem.
