My Ex is an idiot. He will argue over any little thing and thinks his word is law. I am always wrong and 'stupid' according to him. But I'm pretty sure I'm actually not 'stupid' in this case.

He has given 22 month old DS this little bouncy rubber ball. He was chewing on it when he dropped him off yesterday and I took it off him as I thought it was dangerous and a choking hazard.

Ex got very angry and said I was controlling what he gave our children and that I was stupid. He told DS that 'mummy was being mean and that he wasn't allowed any toys'

I've posted a photo of the ball, next to a tea spoon so you can see the size of it.

Was I unreasonable?

Shesparkles Sun 07-Dec-14 10:57:35

You're absolutely not wrong, or an idiot. These balls are not suitable for such a young child

notsogoldenoldie Sun 07-Dec-14 10:57:46

Ywnbu. That ball is tiny.

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses Sun 07-Dec-14 10:57:49

YANBU.
You really have to wonder about some people's thought processes!

Chumhum Sun 07-Dec-14 10:59:11

Choking hazard, very irresponsible to give this to a young child.

Allalonenow Sun 07-Dec-14 10:59:57

YANBU
But your Ex is being an idiot!

Charitybag Sun 07-Dec-14 11:00:42

fshock YANBU.

FamiliesShareGerms Sun 07-Dec-14 11:01:34

YANBU - if it fits in their mouths it's too small for them

JT05 Sun 07-Dec-14 11:01:35

YANBU t all. This TOTTALLY unacceptable and neglectful.

SkyHighWhy Sun 07-Dec-14 11:01:57

It's a very small ball. YANBU.

owlbegoing Sun 07-Dec-14 11:03:45

Another vote for YANBU
Your ex needs to engage his brain before he gives your DS something!!

BuilderMammy Sun 07-Dec-14 11:03:46

Definitely a choking hazard.

PurpleWithRed Sun 07-Dec-14 11:03:56

how to deal with choking - maybe send him the link seeing he has no common sense at all

WinterGloves Sun 07-Dec-14 11:04:48

He really thought I was just trying to piss him off. He started ranting and swearing over it. I can't believe I actually had a relationship with him, what was I thinking shock

Ketchuphidestheburntbits Sun 07-Dec-14 11:19:26

I can see why he's your ex!

YANBU

DoraGora Sun 07-Dec-14 11:20:37

Does sound as though he makes a habit of exercising his professional stupidity skills on a permanent basis. I'd be into chucking stupid things away and shutting the door in his face.

CadleCrap Sun 07-Dec-14 11:21:12

YANBU and he is a twat

rumbleinthrjungle Sun 07-Dec-14 11:22:41

YANBU.

Not just about 'our child might actually die' but also in the stomp, pout and tell the child passive aggressive crap like a thwarted seven year old.

Reading through MN this morning, are there any sensible, normal, non wankerish men left anywhere on the planet who are even half way decent partners or parents and have made it to emotional adulthood? Please, someone reassure me!

fluffyraggies Sun 07-Dec-14 11:23:57

He's an idiot.

sashh Sun 07-Dec-14 11:25:03

WTF?

Does he know why pen lids have holes?

youarekiddingme Sun 07-Dec-14 11:25:19

Well no guesses needed to determine why he's your Ex wink

Yanbu. Those toys state not suitable for children under 3yo for a reason. I wouldn't even let my 10yo who still outs things in his mouth have one! There's plenty they can play with without it needing to be something dangerous to them.

MissMarplesBloomers Sun 07-Dec-14 11:27:50

YANBU- I hate those little toys for kids. I bet part of his anger at you was becasue he knows you are right & he doesn't like that.

rumble I often think that but I guess we only hear about the twatfaces on here as the nice guys partners/DW are reading these threads thinking WTAF??? grin

YouTheCat Sun 07-Dec-14 11:30:51

He's an idiot.

Icimoi Sun 07-Dec-14 12:13:54

The only stupid person here is your ex.

If he won't believe you, suggest he asks someone like a Health Visitor.

raltheraffe Sun 07-Dec-14 12:16:43

Supreme Judge RalTheRaffe says he is an irresponsible wanker.
