AIBU?

To think courier company should reemburse me total value of lost package

I had a shipment which went from one courier to another courier.
The first courier has proof of delivery. The second courier lost the package.
They tell me insurance will only cover max of 100 euro. Replacement has cost me 158 euro. So I'm pretty bummed.

AIBU to think the second courier should reimburse me the total value of the package? Does anybody have any experience of this?

Are you the seller or the receiver? If you're the receiver your contract is with the seller and you will need to ask them to contact the courier company.
If you are the Sender then you should have requested a higher insurance limit but.you should definitely chase them for the £100

Definitely depends on whether you are the sender or recipient.

If you are the sender couriers do advise you on booking on insurance cover limit and so yes, you should claim off the courier for your loss, but you will be limited on the £100 as that is the contract you entered into.

If you are the recipient, forget all about the courier. The seller needs to reimburse you the full amount of your purchase including postage.

Its kind of tricky. Seller used Courier A. My specified address was Courier B. Courier B lost the package.

Courier B is Parcel Motel, which allows Irish residents receive packages from a UK address, where seller will ship UK only.
Usually works great.
But I'm pretty pissed off, because it is a kids Christmas gift, and I'm thinking it could have been stolen rather than lost... A warehouse search hasn't turned it up.
