Aibu to start to hate the word methinks. Used in Facebook status updates too frequently by people who can't spell it.

I'm still mystified, OP. Come on, put me out of my misery - how do they spell it?

I need to know too. I found this article which includes 'methinks' as one of the top 8 annoying phrases/words used on the internet. But it didn't mention how to misspell it.

Not as bad as 'Is this aloud?' or I know someone who keeps using the phrases 'ball shit' and 'dame right'.

OP come back at once and tell us the misspelling!

I hate people who say "Why oh why..." and go on to complain about something.

I also hate "Note to self" which people seem to use on FB as a way of being amusing when it just sounds like they're in Bridget Jones.

I hate MANY turns of phrase.

"Stumped" and "Cheesed off" are particularly ugly.

Methinks that you may have missed a comma out of that thread title, OP.

But for all that, what was the misspelling?

Report
TimelyNameChangey · 03/12/2014 18:57

"I brought a new top today"

Angry

WHERE TO!? WHERE did you bring it you fool!

Report

Perhaps OP sees people writing "Me thinks"

Me thinks OP is a pedant....I am too.

Like that.

But doesn't "en route" mean on route?

Report
AvonCallingBarksdale · 03/12/2014 19:06

Yes, literally "on the route", but it's a French expression, so it's got to be en route that's the law

Report
MasqueradeWaltzer · 03/12/2014 19:09

I bet the misspelling is 'me thinks' - but does that count as misspelling or is it misspacing?
