AIBU?

To think this car sticker was daft

Saw a car sticker this morning saying 'Slow Down. Lauren on Board'.

AIBU to think it was a bit daft and Baby on Board or Child on Board would have done, if driver really wanted a sticker?

Each to their own. It isn't offensive so don't see the issue

Maybe she just really wanted a personalised sticker for her car? I agree that sounds a bit naff though.

Those baby on board signs were originally to address the problem of an infant in a car seat not being visible to the emergency services in the case of an accident, so they knew to look for it.
Now people have so many and such silly signs on their car I doubt the fire brigade consider them reliable at all anymore.
That's the first thing that bugs me ,the second thing is why would any one drive about advertising their children's names on their car? Self absorbed & weird .

Meh. Some people like to buy anything and everything with a name on it. I don't get it, but then I don't get 'baby on board' stickers anyway, beyond it being a warning that the driver may be sleep-deprived and distracted!

Was Lauren a child or the driver?

The BoB stickers were a US idea - I recall when they first appeared (over 20 years ago ffs !) a fire brigade spokesman saying they were a waste of money, as firefighters were trained to look for babies in RTAs. Hopefully less of an issue now proper seats are mandated for all.

Ben Elton did a routine about it, ending, if I recall correctly, with a rant about "Don't flaunt your fertility at me" - which dates it Grin

According to Snopes link here it never had anything to do with alerting the emergency services, but was only ever meant as a way of asking other drivers to drive sensibly.

i always think saying the signs were there to alert emergency services is quite offensive to them! (as if they don't inspect the car for all passengers)

as an aside my favourite car sticker is \link{http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/151101781084?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0\this}

Because the World revolves around Princess Lauren...

Hate all those smug, self-obsessed car stickers. I often think I should slap a "so what?" sticker over any BOB sticker I see on a parked car. Would that BU?

I personally make a point of deliberately tail-gating princess on board stickered cars.

I was on holiday in Aus and found a sign that says "Who cares who's on board ?" in the same silly triangle sign.

That is on my rear windscreen :)

I know a Lauren who's an absolute cowbag - she would SO have this in her car, just to say 'Don't let your filthy banger touch my Princess Wagon, you prole.'

Lauren on board, baby on board, porn star on board and so on. Who cares ?
"W**r on board" covers all bases.

I bought a baby on board sign because of MN threads, I think the offence people take at them is hilarious.

Sounds like that one off X Factor is getting above herself.

Off topic but I regularly see a car with a sticker that says;

'I am driving this fast because I need a poo'

Hmm

I think I prefer Princess on board.

Did it also say "powered by fairydust" Angry that gives me a completely irrational rage. Though makes me chuckle when I see them getting fuel....Grin

Did it have the eyelashes on? Eyelashes give DP the rage.

It's so bad that I'm really tempted to put some eyelashes on our car just to see his reaction.

Did you get up close to it? Was it issued by the police or DVLA? Lauren might be such a fuckstick of a driver that she has a court order forcing her to warn people that she's nearby.
Poor Lauren. Poor Lauren and her awful driving.
