AIBU?

AIBU to be horrified by the new Porn Law?

AIBU to be really disturbed by the new porn law? If anyone hasn't seen it, they've banned a whole load of relatively common sexual practices from being shown in porn filmed in the UK.

There's a really good list/explanation here:www.aftmagazine.com/learn/porn-laws-illegal-fantasy/

AIBU to think that there's nothing wrong with showing a bit of spanking in a porn film? I feel like the UK government should be focussing on improving public transport and fixing the economy, not trying to nose into what we're doing in our bedrooms?!

And what on earth is wrong with squirting? I notice there's no ban on sperm flying around the place!

I feel like this rather unfairly boosts the stereotype of us Brits being all sexually repressive. Maybe they'll end up banning boinking entirely! Although that'd admittedly save a lot of awkwardness and do away with having to change the sheets so often.

Spanking's out? The fifty shades film is going to be pretty boring then, not that the book wasn't shite enough already.

YABVU. The reason female ejaculation was banned was because it wasn't actually female ejaculation - it was Porn actresses being told to urinate. The films marketed as female ejaculation in the UK were marketed as Urine in other countries.

It is 100% right that no one, no matter what their job, should feel coerced into demeaning and degrading acts at work. This will go some way to helping people in the industry push back against humiliating and potentially dangerous scenes.

These are the same rules that have always applied, they're just now extended them to on demand.

The BBFC don't believe squirting exists and say it's urine, all forms of watersports have been banned so that includes squirting. Anything that could cause harm to an amatuer if copied has been banned. FTR I'm not saying I agree with them.

It's not about what you are doing. It's about making steps to regulate an industry full of abuse and exploitation.
And I don't think its healthy for young people to be accessing material online that involves people pissing on or hitting each other.

YANBU, it's stupid. I would agree that making the performers wear condom would be a good thing, but other than that...

Erm well I would argue 99% of that's a bit 'niche' anyway and not exactly safe or hygienic. Probably best that we don't promote most of that.. Most adults wouldn't generally watch pornography where someone was being fisted, or using a pneumatic drill as a vibrator!

That said - urethral sounds used to (possibly still are) be able to be bought in a v well known, and v well promoted, sex shop, I dare say it's not great to continue selling them online if their usage in films has to be so carefully controlled!!

You also refer to spanking - article states clearly that spanking would be acceptable in moderation, spanking that causes welts, blood or bruising (and let's be honest, you'd have to be hitting bloody hard to cause either of those) isn't acceptable. So they aren't ruling out some mild S&M, just trying to tone it down. Unfortunately those who are interested in hardcore s and m won't be stopped by minor changes in UK laws (to be honest, only a tightening, as there was an act like this already in existence) but never mind..

So, she can not be spanked, but can have a huge dildo up her arse? The latter of which can cause injury.

I really can't be bothered to care about banning certain things in porn. It's just UK porn. You watch American movies with American accents just fine, I guess you'll have to watch your spankings in American accents now too. Grin

It doesn't look like they're saying don't fist in the bedroom. You're still welcome to try whatever you want behind closed doors.

Most of the stuff they banned sounds like it does have serious safety concerns, and porn isn't as regulated as say the stunt double industry where they have medics on staff. Even amateurs make it, and the last thing people need are more idiots in the ER because they tore their intestines because they decided it was ok to put a fist up their ass.

I won't be crying any time soon because porn distributors face more restrictions. There are plenty of real concerns out there.

YANBU

""I won't be crying any time soon because porn distributors face more restrictions""

Distributors won't face more restrictions, only UK makers will.

I watch fetish Porn, I take an interest in the Ethical debates and the questioning of the Ethics of "Public Disgrace" films, who are the main a Producers etc.

Public Disgrace films are made in countries where the laws allow these to be made, but there are real ethical concerns around the public's sexual boundaries being disregarded.

I come across Porn that is obvious abuse, these tend to be from the old Eastern Block countries, or at least the Women do, we have no control over this.

We should be looking into what can be done to regulate free internet Porn and work with Studios to tighten up their practices in general, not banning certain acts.

It's very damaging for Women everywhere to have Fetish Porn being made in unregulated/checked countries by dodgy makers, rather than large Studios/Producers.

I personally would like the age raised for Fetish Porn actresses.

It's a shame we can't remove the stigma, of making Porn, so that those who are honestly into Fetish Sex can "Star" in the films and a sensible debate can take place.

Report
Alyosha · 03/12/2014 20:25

I must be reading this incorrectly Birds - you seem to think that your desire to see fetish porn outweighs the safety of the actresses and actors involved? How are we to know if any of the porn in this genre involves performers who are doing it of their own free will? I personally think that the economic motivation alone makes all porn non-consensual (how can you freely consent to anything if you might go hungry or lose your house if you don't do it?).

""You watch American movies with American accents just fine, I guess you'll have to watch your spankings in American accents now too. ""

What's more likely to happen, is there is going to be more stuff that involves Young Women, already gagged, very bruised/beaten that barely look over the age of consent.

It isn't an issue to add a smiley face to, tbh.

I've noticed an increase in the use of "Daddy" rather than "Sir" in these clips that are Eastern European.

The "Young Women" look barely developed (not just small breasted etc), it's a worrying trend.

Alyosha, what I am saying is that if we go to far with the ban of what can be produced in the UK and parts of the US (who even have restrictions on private webcam showings), then we are doing nothing to tighten up/regulate the Industry.

I am known on here by my occupation of SW (now retired), but I came from a sex industry background.

I know Women who have changed jobs when they want to be Mothers, because if the stigma, not because they no longer want to be a part of the sex industry.

The established big "pay for" Porn studios are working towards tightening up safeguards, but the amount of free unregulated porn is holding that back.

If you go onto a "Rape Fantasy" (now banned in the UK) forum, there are masses of very disturbing (and plain wrong in some cases) French and Spanish stuff linked to.

If we could concentrate on developing ethical Porn studios, then we would know that what is happening isn't a real Rape, Abuse or even death.

I don't think any kind of commercial sex can be truly consensual, so I guess we'll have to disagree on this one. I think it would be nice if we didn't just take people's (actually, mainly just men's) fetishes as so sacred they just have to be fulfilled in some way.
