There are a few things my dc want for Christmas that are sold out everywhere. So I've looked online and I've seen them all on eBay (on buy it now) for loads more than they cost in the shops

I think it's grabby, vile and morally reprehensible. Cashing in on children. wtf

Mind you I also blame the manufacturers to some extent as I suspect they deliberately don't release new stock to create hype. And also the parents that are blithely handing over their money to these cunts are dipshits as well

I knew someone who would buy an outfit for a Christmas party, wear it the next day and then take it back to the shop for a refund a day later saying they 'didn't like it'.

This is obviously not an uncommon thing - our local Phase Eight stockist will now not give a refund unless the product is either noticeably faulty or has ALL the original tags left in.

I just can't be arsed to try and rip people off like this, and I don't know if I could live with myself either.

I know someone else who buys really massive boxes full of polystyrene cups from Costco, splits them into strips of 20 cups and then sells them on ebay for a miniscule profit. Life is just too short....

I'm all for people being entrepreneurial and making their own money etc. I'm self employed myself. But IMO buying up loads of stock in shops purely to sell on at vastly inflated prices just isn't right

I agree, it's grabby, but they're not cashing in on the children, they're cashing in on the parents. Who feel under enormous pressure to get everything on the list in case it 'ruins' Christmas.

Years ago I happened to work near a toy shop that sold those zoom zoom hamster things when they were the it toy. The shop didn't realise how popular they were and at first didn't limit how many you could buy. I bought more than I needed and sold them on to my husband-to-be's work mates as he was living in an area that the toys were scarse. I sold them for the price I paid for them.

Actually that's a good point - I can't remember if he paid me back - off upstairs to ask him!
