To think Sainsbury's/Nectar should honour this? Anyone can help me tweet?
(20 Posts)We shop at Sainsbury's and have a Nectar card. I have one card, DH has a second card on the same account (as in each time one of us swipes our card, the points go on the same account)
I swiped mine the first and third week, DH the second week and today. On no occasion did we receive a voucher (I only know this now btw). He enquired at customer services and was told "we won't get the points anyway" as it has to be MY card swiped.
I rang Nectar who said it was Sainsburys who needed to be complained to, so duly rang. Honestly, the customer manager couldn't have been less interested and was adamant it was because of the card swiping fiasco. Despite the fact we have shopped there loyally for the past 15 ish years and have this year racked up £85 worth of points (we usually do the Christmas shop with them), spend on average £90 every sodding week. I was patient on the phone and calmly asked for her manager's name, or the mane of someone I could escalate it to. To which she refused. Because she didn't have permission from "him" to give his name Eventually she went away and put me on hold, came back an offered me 2000 points. I said I wasn't happy and this (after a nanosecond) went up to 3000 (which isn't a million miles away from the 4500 anyway!)
I know in the big scheme of things it isn't a great deal but to me it's the principle. Yes fine, it wasn't MY actual, individual card swiped but it's the same account?! They can see it's the same account. It's besides the point but I was unable to go anyway today as I'm bloody ill. He should have used my card perhaps but they don't allow that either. Grrr!
AIBU?? Can anyone help me compose a tweet and have it shared far and wide. I only have 4 followers
Will fully accept if I should lie down and roll over.
I'm no help to you but hope others can come along and help.
What's the point in having a second card then?
Exactly Chef. Ridiculous (in my opinion but obvs not Sainsbury's)
mmm... we just used DH's card for every relevant shop (this is the special get 3000 points for 5x£40 shop deal)? I think it's a perk, silly to get entitled about it.
This is a "spend over £80 on four consecutive weeks and get 4500 points" deal.
I don't see it as a perk tbh. To me, a perk is something you get for nothing. This 4500 points isn't for nothing.
I could understand it if DH had a different account but it's the same. It's the principle. It's bloody annoying when you've been a great customer.
But fair enough if you think it's entitled.
If you forget your card, they can update the points the next time you go in, can't they?
Why couldn't they just do that type of thing?
If you spend money there, you should get the points
I'm pretty sure this is in the T&Cs. All shops have to be with the same card. It can be yours or DHs, but has to be the same one.
We had the same thing.
I've complained about small print Ts&Cs with Tesco, and they honoured the deal that I thought the main ad was offering.
I emailed customer services and was persistent. They are less helpful on the phone.
I think if you didn't swipe any of the cards chef then yes. But as DH swiped his, the points have been collected. On our account But "we" don't get the points. "We" only do if I swiped
You're right Infinity it is in the TC's, but not that clear is it
That's encouraging LineRunner
I will email them but the person I spoke to said it would be their department it came to anyway
I stressed that I found their advertising misleading.
To be fair (pains me to say that) it was only when it was pointed out that I re-visited the blurb and it does say, swipe card number xxxx, but initially I just thought "great, extra points for extra spend, ok, we'll do that".
So technically they're correct I know.
But still.
Blimey, what is the point of having a second card, I dont know about nectar card all that well atm because I've only just started at Sains but I'd be persistent as they are points you've collected.
Thanks Tali
I've tweeted them and a kind MNer has offered to retweet for me Any one else care to retweet? There's a Cadbury's Mini Hero in it for y'all
The whole points-back thing is a Giant Con. We pay up front for what we supposedly get back, thru higher prices. The whole thing drives me crazy, and to to shop more at Lidl & Aldi.
I agree with you. OK it might be in their Ts&Cs but it doesn't seem fair/right to me. It is a household account! I never use Twitter but I do think YANBU so have some moral support!
Thanks Curly
lljkk Yep, Giant Con indeed.
Im guessing you have contacted the store.
Try: 0800636262- its the careline number and I am pretty sure they will sort you out with the points.
Thanks nohysteria, that's the number I rang today (the unhelpful one sad to say)
