AIBU?

To be a bit cynical about SuBo's new boyfriend.

She strikes me as a lovely woman. However she is very rich and has MH issues and that is a good combination for any opportunist looking for cash.

I am speaking as someone who was conned out of my entire life savings, my house, my car, the lot when very ill with MH issues. It happens and I really hope this is not what has attracted this guy to her.

Perhaps I am just being a cynic because I have had a bad experience and perhaps I should be happy that she has finally found love.

Your thoughts please.

I'm not sure we can discuss this appropriately or sensitively.

If we suggest he's after her for her money then we suggest no one would want her for herself Sad

It would be tragic to see someone use SuBo as a means to get rich quick.

She has Aspergers - not mental health issues.

I read about that earlier today but very little detail.
I will say, cynically, she has, I'd imagine, many people surrounding her who will look out for her as their pay cheques depend on it.
Not everyone in her postion, MH wise, can say they have the same protection.
Plus SB seems to be very well recently so let's all hope for the best.

Meh I hope he's lovely.

Loads of women with Aspergers manage to meet men and get married and have children and ALL kinds.

It's patronising to be concerned.

Laurie by suggesting he is after her for the money certainly does not imply that no-one would want her for herself.

""She has Aspergers - not mental health issues.""

She has a complex diagnosis, through being starved of oxygen at birth and then not receiving appropriate care etc for her issues.

I think the use of Subo, is insulting in itself.

I agree that your post does suggest that no-one would want her for herself, OP.

Very unnecessary thread.

"But you see, I'm not mad or simple or any of the other names that I have been called over the years. I have Asperger's and it doesn't define me, it gives a greater understand of who I am.

For over 50 years I struggled not understanding what was wrong, feeling that I had been unfairly labeled but at 51 when I was diagnosed with Asperger's it was a huge moment of relief, understanding and acceptance.

Thank you Claw for that incredibly condescending education on Asperger's. Please do not assume I know zero about this condition.

Birds Subo is no different to the other stars who get called silly names like Madge for Madonna, Brangelina and similar.

Ralther and right back at you. I also have personal experience of it which I'm not going into simply to defend myself to you !

How is the use of the term Subo offensive? It is a shortened version of her name ffs

well he's American and they met in a hotel. How big is she in the US? Maybe he had no idea who she was initially, just found her attractive and wanted to talk to her? Or maybe he was a genuine fan in awe of her? Also he's a doctor so he's hardly going to be skint now is he?

Leave her be. I'm sure she has a lot of people looking out for her best interests. I'm pleased she's found someone and hope they're happy together.

She seems like a very intelligent woman and I'm sure she wouldn't let anyone take advantage of her. People tend to assume she's simple and a bit of a pushover but from what I've seen of her on TV she seems the opposite.

She always comes across as extremely vulnerable, and like birds I suspect her SN doesn't begin and end with Aspergers. Of course it's entirely appropriate that that stays private.

well she's managed to make millions and not piss it all away so I suspect she's pretty on the ball and her management and accountants also

I also find this thread pretty mean
