To want a return of Spitting Image

I loved the way that it satirised politicians and current affairs and even more serious issues such as the IRA.

Growing up, it really helped to be able to deal with things in the news using humour Grin and I would love for my teens to be able to watch it again.

I loved the way it made politicians recognisable to me. I would struggle to name any members of the current cabinet but in the 80's I would have known the names and faces of most of them purely as a result of watching spitting image.

It was a fantastic show.

I don't think we need it when we have Boris Johnson.

I genuinely thought he was a comedy alter ego a la Tim Nice But Dim for a couple of years.

YANBU at all

I used to love that show Grin

When I recall of all those politicians from the 80s, I still think of them as rubber puppets rather than actual people! Douglas Hurd's hair...ha!

The current cabinet is ripe for puppetising...

Was saying the same thing to DH the other day! I miss it!

I was saying the same too.
We knew who all the MPs were then.
I used to love the queen mum.

Hell yes!

We often compliment each other on the peas, a la John Major!

Maybe, but it was getting a bit tired towards the end.

Not me, at all... I know this is probably completely word but it used to scare me shirtless! That said, I am a massive scaredy cat and even now can't stand Bo Selecta and the like.....

Who was the politician that used to spray everyone with dribble?

Roy Hattersley?

Boris Johnson Grin

This forum member remembers my favourite sketch better than I do:

Spitting image told that joke when they had it in for Gerald Kauffman, depicting him as a certain Dr Lecter

Neil Kinnock, "Look Gerald, you're far too creepy, you're going to have to learn a joke to soften your image so you don't frighten away supporters"

Gerald Kauffman, "I know one: I say, I say, I say, my dog's got no nose"

Neil Kinnock, "Your dog's got no nose, how does it smell?"

Gerald Kauffman, "It can't; I sliced it off"

Neil Kinnock running away Arrrrrrrrgh!!!!!

Imagine what they could do with Iain Duncan Smith Shock

I'm with you silver - I found it soooo scary as a child. Particularly Margaret Thatcher.

Mind you, I thought Fraggle Rock was scary too.

It was amazing, best thing ever

But apparently too expensive to produce

Which is dead sad actually - I don't think I care if the puppets are shit, I just want wobbly jowelled Cameron to be fucked in the arse on screen by Theresa May (and enjoy it)

And my favourite sketch was John Major, the peas and Norma - and insane Edwina

I was thinking this too, while watching mock the week.

We really need spitting image back.

I'd love to see the Milliband Brothers portrayed.

And all of the shitty carbon-copy boy bands Grin

And Jeremy Paxman ripping the shit out of everyone on University Challenge.

Jeremy Paxman also needs to be brought down a peg or two Wink
