"DD, what would you like for Christmas?"

"The big Frozen castle Mummy. It's all I've ever wished for!"

Repeat x 100

So Mummy looks at the big Frozen castle.

Why in the name of all things holy does this big plastic box cost over £100???? It looks like it is worth about £20. On a good day.

Apparently it is the only toy she has ever wanted (lie). But I can't get anything else out of her that she might like. I tried introducing the smaller version - £40 and still an obscene price - but apparently it doesn't have a sofa?!?!?

Has anyone bought this piece of crap? Thoughts?

Trollsworth Fri 28-Nov-14 20:29:49

Oh my days, that's appalling. I'm afraid I would say Santa has told you he doesn't make those, and you can't afford to buy it, so please, dd, pick something else.

ApocalypseThen Fri 28-Nov-14 20:30:21

With a hundred quid you could get her something good that she would get more than fifteen minutes out of, like a really nice bike!

pinkr Fri 28-Nov-14 20:31:09

Uanbu! ! And it doesn't even include the dolls. Rip off

Wotsitsareafterme Fri 28-Nov-14 20:31:21

I've seen it. I agree it's tat

KnackeredMuchly Fri 28-Nov-14 20:31:58

Think you might be able yo bargain hunt that one much cheaper using discount codes and cashback websites. ... hopefully.

Try posting on Money Saving Expert and asking how you can get it cheaper.

I think it's quite pretty blush

YouTheCat Fri 28-Nov-14 20:31:59

Tell her Santa has run out.

Liara Fri 28-Nov-14 20:32:18

Sorry, love, Santa doesn't work with Disney.

Anything non-branded you would like?

BlackDaisies Fri 28-Nov-14 20:32:32

No, not bought that piece of crap! I do buy a fair bit of over priced rubbish at Christmas, but that would be way too much, even for me shock

octopal Fri 28-Nov-14 20:32:34

I talked one of my dd's out of it. It is €160 here in Ireland and looks like a load of tat.

BarbarianMum Fri 28-Nov-14 20:33:49

Well Santa doesn't always bring you what you ask for. He failed to bring ds2 a over-priced bound to fail Texta Puppy last year. Mind you, he loved his scooter. wink

Keletubbie Fri 28-Nov-14 20:34:34

It doesn't come down to money. We're far from flush, but we could afford it. I just don't think I could have it in my house without scowling at it every time I caught a glimpse of it.

DD is an only child, an only grandchild and has a dad and stepdad spoiling her. She has pretty much everything. And a birthday 6 days before Christmas as well...

BarbarianMum Fri 28-Nov-14 20:34:42

Or tell her she'll maybe get it for her next birthday - there will be hundred on Ebay for a tenner within a few weeks.

MrsCharlesBrandon Fri 28-Nov-14 20:35:17

I don't recall the one in the film having any furniture...

Hang on, i just read that it's supposed to be both castles. It's tat regardless, and horribly overpriced!

Aeroflotgirl Fri 28-Nov-14 20:35:22

My fecking almighty £110 quid for something that looks like it's worth £15. I am glad dd 7 is not into Frozen.

LineRunner Fri 28-Nov-14 20:37:28

And the dolls come separately.

octopal Fri 28-Nov-14 20:38:00

I agree op. It is the principle of it. We paid a similar amount for a dolls house last year but it is huge and came with lots of furniture, looks beautiful and will last a long time.

If we got the Frozen one it would irk me every time I saw it.

ClawHandsIfYouBelieveInFreaks Fri 28-Nov-14 20:39:12

Jeepers YANBU. I'd buy her a nice tablet.

Rosa Fri 28-Nov-14 20:39:55

Its €109 in italy so cheaper. DD has been told that FC knows we have a small house and therefore we have no space. She has also asked for the Barbie house as well. She is getting one of the smaller fold up Barbie room thingys and a Frozen duvet cover ...should make up for it right???? hmm Disney store does a smaller versiom still looks complete crap to me though.

FrancesNiadova Fri 28-Nov-14 20:40:42

HOW MUCH? shockblushangry

Naicecuppatea Fri 28-Nov-14 20:40:44

I wouldn't pay £50 for that!!! Awful.

campingfilth Fri 28-Nov-14 20:41:31

Jesus christ what a rip off!! It'll be £25.99 after christmas. Tell her that!

40somethingwonderful Fri 28-Nov-14 20:41:34

Showing as £120 when I click the link

Hoping DD does not see this

SaucyJack Fri 28-Nov-14 20:42:16

You know what, if it's within your budget then I'm gonna say YABU.

Yes, it's crap and overpriced by our standards. But you asked what she wants and that's the answer.

She doesn't want a bike or a better value wooden dolls house.

LordJabuJabu Fri 28-Nov-14 20:42:57

Dolls sold separately?! Fuck off. They wish I loved my kids that much.

Has she already got all the outfits/assorted tat they're still peddling for Frozen?

Still can't believe how much it is! Manages to make a barbie dream house look like value for money!
