black friday
payday weekend
I plan on going christmas shopping on saturday at 8am as soon as the shops in town open. AIBU to think everyone has the same idea as me? i'm going to end up killing someone
I just want to go have a nice christmas shop! this is the first year I'm able to do this! This is also the 2nd year I've heard of Black Friday over here! why is everything so commercialised & americanized?!
aibu to be this stressed out over some pajamas and Lush stuff!?

Mammanat222 Thu 27-Nov-14 14:19:35

Well I for one will not be at the shops... Couldn't think of anything worse!

Mammanat222 Thu 27-Nov-14 14:19:55

I may have a wee looky online though!

dwinnol Thu 27-Nov-14 14:20:15

I went last Friday so I won't be there if that's any help.

BaffledSomeMore Thu 27-Nov-14 14:20:58

I'm not going. But you're right it might be everyone except me.

PoirotsMoustache Thu 27-Nov-14 14:21:36

No-one will be there. They'll have gone shopping on Black Friday and snapped up all the bargains. You'll be left with full-priced crap.

Sorry.

i would have gone last friday but this is Christmas Payday. We also get paid before christmas too but that has to last through January, don't want to be spending loads. I hate shopping, i will be in and out in an hour on normal days. The centre will be heaving. I'm going to have a panic attack grin

LadyPenny Thu 27-Nov-14 14:22:53

Not me, mines all done and wrapped.

Yes I know I am Mrs smuggity smug face grin

solidussnake Thu 27-Nov-14 14:23:22

poirots fucking bollocks not getting more stressed out at all nope

BuzzardBird Thu 27-Nov-14 14:23:52

This is why God created the internet...it's a Christmas miracle! grin

Waitingonasunnyday Thu 27-Nov-14 14:24:52

If you don't like shopping, don't go! I do most of mine online. With one trip somewhere pretty for 'Christmas shopping' which should really be called 'Christmas mulled wine drinking'.

DidoTheDodo Thu 27-Nov-14 14:25:01

I've finished my Christmas shopping.
Another smug one here.

-buy I may go online to see if there is anything nice for me

PrimalLass Thu 27-Nov-14 14:25:25

Two words: Amazon Prime

I can't face normal Christmas Shopping these days.

solidussnake Thu 27-Nov-14 14:25:38

buzzardoh come on grin if I could buy boots that would fit me from the internet, believe me I would. I've learnt my lesson... Town it is. Also, if I buy the wrong game for DP i can't send it back in time! then there's the dress for the christmas work's do... arggggghhhhh

solidussnake Thu 27-Nov-14 14:27:09

I need to look at the things! there's soooo many things, and I can't buy Lush Soap without smelling it!
I love this time of year... but only when people are buying things for me. Black friday sales can lick my shiny metal arse. the boxing day sales are welcome though!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere Thu 27-Nov-14 14:28:51

I'm worried about that too, as I'm off to a different shopping centre to hopefully finish my shopping off. So everyone planning on going to Festival Place in Basingstoke please stay at home grin ds2 desperately needs a new coat too, as does dd. darn these blinking growth spurts. ds2 is now taller than me and I'm 5'9, he's 12!!!!!!!

flowery Thu 27-Nov-14 14:31:10

Not everyone will have the same idea because surely most people do most of their Christmas shopping online now?

We do what Waiting does - we do it all online, then DH and I take a day off during December, go into Cambridge "Christmas shopping" which actually means soak up atmosphere, have a nice lunch and listen to the Sally Army play Christmas carols, with no pressure to buy presents.

Having worked in retail previously, I wouldn't go into a town centre a few weeks before Christmas on a Saturday with a gun to my head.

None of my coats fit me. I'm well under 5' so my coats are age 11-12 if im lucky, grin but I need boots that fit (wide calf, small fit, size 3) and skinny jeans that fit, 25" legs, and a coat that isn't longer than my knees!

Then I need PJs for DM & Dsis, y'know them fluffy ones? as well as some other cute stuff I find for them, dad's getting joggers & shower gel set, then DP's getting a game, some new joggers, dressing gown & slippers. His mum's getting a wash set as with his stepdad, with brothers getting gloves & undies and grandparents getting lush stuff & the new terry pratchet book.

i hate christmas.
I love it.
But i can't stabd it when I have to spend money sad

solidussnake Thu 27-Nov-14 14:45:22

I can't do mine online because things just won't get here in time. Primark, game, lush, superdrug & WH Smith are life savers. Also wilkos. also I live with my parents and they like opening my post if i'm working and they're not. 9 times out of 10 no one's in anyway so I miss delivery, don't have a car and our delivery office is 9 miles away!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth Thu 27-Nov-14 14:48:29

Ive finished my christmas shopping, I will be going to tesco tomorrow to do some food shopping then wont be setting foot in any shop til after new year.

Shockers Thu 27-Nov-14 14:50:20

I won't be shopping, so that's one less grin.

I have to pay the balance on our Feb half term skiing holiday this week, so it's a satsuma and a lump of coal for my kids this Christmas wink.

solidussnake Thu 27-Nov-14 15:00:57

shockers has it right! Although, I asked my wonderful father for a laptop. The joys of still living at home, right?
I'm having to save up for a holiday to portugal, too. then my parent's wedding later on in the year abroad. money is so tight.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness Thu 27-Nov-14 15:11:29

I will have to go in this weekend with DH and the kids. That will be fun ( not).

WyrdByrd Thu 27-Nov-14 15:41:27

I'm doing double Christmas shopping this weekend - off to nearest city on my own tomorrow & home town Christmas market & lunch with a friend on Saturday.

I do most of it online, but for little knick knacks you can't beat a proper wander.

Am going to Tiger, Lush & the little hippy shops for DD's stocking fillers. Saturday will mostly be about food, wine & browsing grin .

Minerves Thu 27-Nov-14 16:28:35

if you want to do black friday like a real american you need to go to the shops on Thursday night ... black friday starts then and people shop in the night ... insane!
