AIBU?

To think that if you have your tree up already, surely you'd be sick of the sight of it by christmas?

I have just seen on FB the first christmas tree picture of the year. It's the 26th Nov. A whole month until christmas.

Don't people feel sick of the sight of it by the time christmas rolls round? Does it not dilute the magic somewhat to have it up so early?

I also don't know why people feel the need to post a photo of it - perhaps it looks fabulous in the flesh but on a camera phone in poor light they always look a bit shit to me.

I'm always sad to take my tree down. I love the lights and sparkle.

No I love the twinkling of the lights.

Going to put mine up at the weekend. It always comes down day after Boxing Day even when I've put it up few days before xmas.

YANBU it takes the shine off it. DH said I was mean today because I refused DD permission to put her Christmas duvet cover on.

IT GOES ON THE BED IN DECEMBER and not before!

Same as tree. I am also strict about not eating any Father Christmas shaped chocolate before the 20th or thereabouts.

Ours goes up mid Dec - we make an evening of it with christmas music, baileys etc. I couldn't imagine doing that yet.

I love xmas and xmas decorations and lights and I go all out. In December. Not November. There should be a law against it. Wink

I lived in Hungary for six years. Xmas trees go up on Xmas eve there.

Mhm. I saw not one but two people I follow on Instagram had put their decorations up over the weekend and I thought the very same thing. Far too early.

I love Christmas but even I can only bear the sight of the decorations for three weeks before I need to tear them down and have my house back Grin. Can't imagine having them up for more than a month!

If I had my way I would put the tree up on Christmas Eve and take it down on a Boxing Day. I just hate the mess and clutter that Christmas brings, although I do love the day itself. I'm outnumbered though as both girls and my husband love the tree and go on and on until I finally relent. Last year I held out until 20th Dec.

Loving the idea of an xmas duvet cover :)

YANBU OP. I put my tree up at end of Nov last year and while I wasn't exactly sick of it by Xmas, I certainly was by new year! I can understand why people take them down on boxing day!

This year I will wait until first Sunday in December.

I put mine up last Monday Grin. I love my tree with its shiny shiny lights. Our elf has also arrived a bit early this year as well.

I'm a total traditionalist. Tree goes up on Christmas Eve and comes down on Twelfth Night.

This almost ludicrously early start to Christmas seems to have accelerated over the last couple of years. It used to be that anyone putting their tree up on the first weekend of December was early but truly, November is just plain ridiculous. It's November. We've only just had Bonfire Night

I love my Christmas tree almost as much as my Halloween tree but it's a bit sparklier

What on earth is a Halloween tree? And where's all this tree nonsense going to stop? Please don't tell me there's an Easter tree...

Nope I love it and would have done it last weekend if it wasn't for needing to get DIY finished first. I'm not a Facebook picture upper though. Can't see anyone else giving a shit about my tree. I do have a friend that genuinely gets properly annoyed about anyone putting a tree up before she seems it appropriate though. I just done get that, it's not like they're putting it up in her house??
It's our tree and house and as long as we are happy to look at it what does it really matter? Like many people we're both out the house long hours and it cheers me up no end to come home to a grotto Grin

A Halloween tree has lights, skeletons, a few witches and other stuff on it. I'm debating on a little anti Valentines tree because Valentines is a bit lame. I might do an Easter one.....

Our tree will be going up at the start of advent. We live in Scotland and it's bloody dark most of the time we're home - the tree brightens things up!

I'd have mine up in July if I could! I'll last until 2 weeks before Christmas as I always do but it's torture.

Best part of Christmas is doing the tree Smile

I wouldn't like it. Our goes up the Saturday before. Surely they drop needed earlier, if they're fresh?

Not that I'm a snob about this. I'd like a false one these days but kids won't let me.

Ours will go up on the 14th this year, but is a real one and will be going into a very warm room so I'm debating the 21st. It's coming down on the 26th as we go on holiday the day after and there's no way I'm coming home to a dead stick.
I adore christmas but hate all the tat and decorations, they're all clutter to me!
I'd be sick of the sight of them long before Christmas if they went up now.
Thankfully none of my facebook friends are posting they've put their trees up yet or else I'd have to whack them in the face with a turkey Grin

Oooo, you could hang real hearts ripped from the chests of your suitors on it.
