AIBU?

or is my dog?

My husband goes away to sea, and is currently on an oil rig. While he has been away, there may have been a couple of occasions when she has been invited onto the bed in the morning. If questioned, I will neither confirm nor deny this. Anyway, she followed me up with my cuppa this morning and stood beside the bed wagging and smiling etc and I told her no, get on her own bed. Have just come down to find her in my spot on the couch looking at me in what I can only describe as a challenging way!

Obviously YABU. Dogs are always right Wink

I'd say if your dog is clever enough to follow you upstairs with a cup of tea for you, you are definitely the unreasonable one. A dog like that deserves bed and sofa privileges Wink

No, cats are always right. At least you'll never persuade them that they are wrong.

YABU , The dog was warming your spot on the couch.

UaBU, you cannot be on the sofa and on the bed at the same time.

The dog know this. She's waiting for you to catch on.

dogs do have an innate sense of fairness. i think you should apologise Smile

Agree with area52. Eye contact means she's in the right and she knows that you that she knows she's right.

My dogs would probably say your dog is being perfectly reasonable. I am a bad owner though. They're paws are not allowed on my sofas and the bedrooms are out of bounds.

Those eyes Honeydragon! How can you turf him/her off?

Honeydog looks a merciful and kind dog. Hopefully you will receive clemency and then just put this momentary lapse behind you.
Your DH needs further training.
Or extended time on the oil rig.

Poor Dog. Shame on you!

I would point out that she didn't make the tea. She could be wherever she liked if she made a decent cuppa. She seemed to take the view that I had been unreasonable and should just suck it up, really. Anyway, after a brief but spirited exchange of views she is now on my husband's end of the couch ( heh, heh!). She is actually a very cute girl but stubborn! She's a weimeraner.

I was sitting on the couch with DH. DDog was on the floor. He got up and went to the door and I got up to let him out. At which point he jumped up on the couch where I'd just been. I ended up on the armchair.

There may have been a bit of brekkers bribery involved! Then she took my husband's spot, where she has her back to me giving off waves of disapproval.

One day ill have a little border terrier and have similar problems but until then yabu your dog wins every time as he or she has huge chocolate brown eyes which trumps everything. ( borrower of neighbours dog and has wore out a border collie after 3 walks within one morning....lightweight...said collie gave me fowl look when i popped into kitchen to pick him up for third walk. Owners said he seemed very tried that evening...)

Not quite Scone. This dog has her back to me, although she has stoped sulking now I think. Your dog is a cutie! I'd post a pic but not sure how!
