Honestly, neither.

My DD is 9 and she'd think both of those too babyish.

The only word I understand in this post is 'or'.

Must get down with the kids...

I agree. DD is 8 and has the Hudl. I think the things you have mentioned are most suitable for 4-7

Neither. Ipad mini , Samsung Tablet or Kindle fire. All excellent depending on your price point.Vtech are shocking products and dreadful value for money IMO.

Those seem more like they're marketed to the 5-7 crowd. I'd get her a real tablet at age 9 or none at all.

Alternatively...

Look at Funko toys from her favorite series. Those are fun and quirky, and at just the right spot that if she's too old for toys, they're cool collectors items.

Have you asked her what she wants?

Does she still believe in Santa? You could be sneaky and have her write a list early so she can mail it to get to him in time. :)

None of those.

My dd would be hate to receive them and think they were babyish.

I have daughters of 9, 8 and 9 months.

There's only one of them I'd consider buying Vtech stuff for.

7yo ds has android tablet, Samsung one. there may be some coming up in the black Friday offers?. I wouldn't buy either of those things mentioned for a child above 5 to be honest

The innotab tablet is aimed at age 3 to 9
Watch says age 3-12

she honestly is too old for them. even if they are used at Christmas they will soon be left to one side. get her an android tablet you can set up restrictions on it and get a cover to lessen the chance of it breaking

Would a kindle fire do the job
She would want to get games like candy crush

Kindle allows game apps. If your tablets come in broken, send them back. Order early to account for this.

I still wouldn't get the innotab. One poke from a peer about how it's babyish and it'll never get used again.

My 3 year old has the innotab thingy.

My 10 and 12 year olds have kindle fires. They use them to play minecraft, candy crush, a farming game, youtube, watch films and listen to music, take photos, Skype each other (from upstairs to downstairs Hmm), read books, talking tom, etc

Plus amazons return policy is really good. I let my 20 month old watch frozen on it whilst he was in hospital and he threw it over the side of the cot, it had no cover on it and the edge cracked a little. Still worked, but I phoned amazon and they sent me a brand new one the next day. They didn't even ask me to send the cracked one back. They also replaced one after a year that had started being slow to load, again I didn't even have to return it.

My 8 and 10 year olds have a Hudl 2 each. Parental controls are good and it's relatively cheap.

Samsung tablets are really good.
