The appetising choice of Golf Pro Weekly, Digital Photographer and Trucking.

I like to catch up on Sleb shit in these places. Very disappointed

Donate some magazines then!

I expect the choice is so bad because all the decent ones get nicked!

Ours is very similar. Maybe a National Geographic on a good day Grin

I always worry about the germs on the mags at doctors. And I'm not normally a germaphobe.

Ours Drs surgery no longer has magazines, you just have to sit and stare at one anotherGrin
I usually remember to take a book as my GP, although brilliant keeps you waiting for up to an hour.

At mine they had leaflets from a Christian organisation with a lady talking about how God saved her from drug addiction.

There's no magazines at all in my GP surgery.

Just a wide range of informative leaflets about a variety of health conditions.

Although they do have a table with some toys and books to keep kids amused while waiting.

Yep no mags at mine. Wonder why?

I donated some but they wouldn't take them but have loads of dog eared people's choice

R4roger · 22/11/2014 15:32

mine took them away briefly, Sad but now they have a great selection of Hello, that is what you want, Hello, just to look at the pictures.

Take a book of your choice and stop worrying.

I love a good flick through a trashy magazine. My hairdresser always has a good selection so I turn up early Grin.

Our doctor's surgery though has the dull specialist interest ones too, like gardening, fishing and food ones.

I want to find out who Kerry Katona is marrying next not how to make the perfect ganache.

I donated a HUGE pile of naice mags to our local GP surgery including World of Interiors. Three weeks later I was in the waiting room and they have all gone nicked?. All that was left were health leaflets from Boots, the Sporting Shooter and very dog eared copies of The Field (rural practice)

It's not on - I mean I wanted to look a G Clooney in Hello

We only have a huge health encyclopaedia folder thingy, all the pages are laminated for washing .. Have a couple of toys for children but one's broken and the other's broken.

One of the gps however, has his shelves covered in South Park figurines. Grin.. Maybe slightly innapropriate but funny too Grin

I wonder more about my local tyre fitting garage. They have stacks of the British Medical Journal in the waiting room.

I work in a GP surgery and we stock the waiting room with magazines supplied by patients and staff.

Anything halfway decent such as Hello, She, Grazia etc gets nicked (even if they're from 2 years ago!) and all the crap such as Beekeeping Monthly or whatever is left behind.

I reckon people start the crosswords whilst they're waiting then take them home to finish Grin

But but, surely, it is better to have no magazines at all than the pile of crap I encountered. I would have taken a book, but they usually have one or two readable ones. But this time we had Trucking!

Ffs who even reads Trucking? It just had pictures of trucks in it. That's it. Nothing else, just trucks and blurb about trucks.

You get what people donate.

Back in my days of RHS membership, I used to pass on 'The Garden' which must gave looked civilised of very wanky (probably depending on whether or not you had a garden).

So presumably, orangeanddemons, you have a trucker with a chronic condition which needs frequent monitoring, and everyone who likes sleb twaddle is really healthy.

What about
this one ?

Tractor magazine is quite a read too.

Actually, I notice no one nicks The Lady or the WI magazine.

I think they get nicked.

We noticed there were not childrens magazines so when I was clearing up a while ago I put all our old ones in a pile and took them to the GP. There were Thomas the Tank Engine, Cbeebies, Jacqueline Wilson and various cute animal ones - probably 20 in all.

Two weeks later I had to take DS to the doctor. Not a single damned one left.

I don't think its down to the GPs. I think its down to certain people not giving a damn about anyone else.

When I was pregnant with dd1, the midwives waiting room only contained Saga magazines for the over 50's. I could not fathom what they were thinking!

Report
MicronesiaIsMyHome · 22/11/2014 18:52

And no, no one ever nicked them!

mardybra if you're thinking about that imagine how many germs there are on the door handle to the doctors room Grin

Our GP has Autoplus, Pleine Vie, Santé and Le Point, as well as a few obscure things.

Most are the current issue, so I think that the practice buys them.

Mrsmorton · 22/11/2014 22:19

You can get a practice subscription pack and it has different types of magazine in. It's moderately expensive though for no huge benefit, people steal them, tear pages out of them, draw rude pictures etc. May as well just give out free wifi tbh.

It is just what is donated. Donate some yourself- it might encourage others.
