I have seen two today and neither needed to be reversed to give an impartial comment. You come across as a bit wet.

I was just about to start the same thread.

It's pathetic. And wet, I agree.

I think they come across as trouble makers.

Amen to that. I could bloody kiss you.
It's a gigantic pain in the fucking arse.
if someone doesn't want to disclose which 'side' they are, instead of a reverse (flawed because you do not know what the other person is thinking, feeling or how they perceive things so you skew it in your favour with your own bias) then just go
person A and person B
or "let's call them Sally and Sam"

not let me set up this ridiculous situation where I am being outrageously unreasonable in every way and you all say so, thus confirming that actually i am totally in the right.

I mean, great way to get the answer you want, but very irritating.

You should have started a thread called "What's wrong with having reverse threads" Smile

CherriesAndOtherStuff · 21/11/2014 21:16

They're just stirring imo. The most recent one came in for a pasting even before she revealed it was a reverse and even moreso afterwards. If she'd just posted the truth from the start people would have been on her side.

Report
Fairenuff · 21/11/2014 21:17

Both of those threads were posters new to mn so they are most likely just being goady.

Report
CherriesAndOtherStuff · 21/11/2014 21:18

Slightly OT but how can you tell if someone is new? Can you search for someone's posts?

Report
usualsuspect333 · 21/11/2014 21:18

I haven't seen any lately.

I don't click many threads these days though TBH.

UncrushedParsley · 21/11/2014 21:19

Manipulative and annoying. And then people start frothing about people objecting to the reverse, and bam, there's a bunfight!

Report
Fairenuff · 21/11/2014 21:19

Cherries yes you can search their posts.

Report
Vitalstatistix · 21/11/2014 21:20

You can't tell if someone is new. Unless they have set up their date of joining on their profile and then it only tells you when they joined up with that id, not how many others they've had.

You can only tell how long they've been using a particular username, by ASing it.

I mean, they may tell you either long term mner or newbie, and you can choose to believe that but just cos they say it, doesn't mean it's true Grin

Report
Vitalstatistix · 21/11/2014 21:21

I mean, if you were to AS my username, you'd find I'd only been here a couple of months.

Actually, I've been here since 2005.

Can we have a ODFO smiley please? Just for reverse threads.

Report
Perfectlypurple · 21/11/2014 21:21

The recent reverse is a perfect example of why they are a pain. Lots of yabu - then the bug reveal. Then loads of posters who haven't RTFT or even the last few posts and reply to the original op.

Just start a thread with the correct details.

Agreed. I think it is pointless and manipulative. My radar is crap and I get so frustrated when I invest time in a thread only to find out I've been taken for a ride.
