If I were the mum I wouldn't expect anything but you could offer her something if you want.

Next door neighbour for two years took me and her dd to school in their car. Every time i said thank you. End of each term i walked up with a box of chocolate to thank them. No money changed hands. Just get your dd to thank her. I would expect petrol money.

I'd just give her a bottle of wine/chocs for Xmas/end of term/etc and say that you understand if her child is off etc that your child will make her own way and you'll make sure your child is there in plenty of time (obviously! But it's nice to say of course).
If it was a longer distance I'd offer petrol money but it's just a short trip she's doing anyway and you're nearby so no inconvenience.
