AIBU?

To be irritated that Frozen has overtaken Christmas in our town centre?

Just got back from town centre. Celebration type stuff before the lights get turned on. Festive music, couple of elves ....... and bloody Frozen themed dancers/characters. Wtf? Has Disney bought Christmas now??

What's frozen?

We went to Milton Keynes last night (escaping my teenage dds party) .
I am still fuming about the christmas display . Middleton Hall shopping centre is known for a stunning christmas centrepiece . It's slowly allowed commercialism to creep in - starting a few years ago with cabins selling tat . But the main features were always a breathtaking scene that you wandered around with plenty to see . All ages would visit -there's always been a train ,carousel and grotto that charged entry ,but the rest was free . The scene always incorporated a wishing well that benefitted a charity .
Well this year there is no display .
It's one huge money spinning santas shitting grotto . Feck all to look at for young or old . There's the train and carousel but the gorgeous displays vanished .
You can pay to enter a plastic igloo to make fucking reindeer food with a miserable elf and visit the bearded old bugger .
They've really robbed the joy and delight from what was once one of the few things MK did well .
Fucking shame .

Art if you've really managed to avoid it, then you are blessed.
Frozen is the latest animated bunch of arse adventure from Disney, featuring yet MORE bloody princesses and a particularly shit theme song. Makes me relieved I don't have a daughter.

Oh no, Waltons! We visited MK last year for the first time around Christmas and were blown away by the display. I'm gutted as we would have come again this year - what a shame!

Oh sorry forgot the point of the thread. We made the mistake of watching the film on DVD. Thought it was pretty bad for a Disney film. And the singing very third rate.

Jam - ah, we haven't got a TV :) so that probably helps as children haven't seen any adverts/ films about it. So we can pick and choose what films ours see, as involves trip to cinema if really wanted. We are in London and can't say I have seen stuff around. Although I haven't been to Disney shop either though where I assume it will be

Oh waltons that's a real shame. Is it that people can't be bothered to use their imagination anymore? Or does it suit town councils to just go with the cheapest, most money-making shite they can?

I don't know what the film is all about. I loathe and detest all things Disney. But especially all this Frozen shit. It's everywhere. Pictures of that simpering red-haired thing with abnormally large eyes. Gets right up my nose. Grrr.

I partly blame Disney for the continuation of the royal family . Bloody sappy sick inducing princessy pants .
Op YANBU ... Frozen isn't christmas and neither is Monty.

YANBU We had our town's lights turned on last night and there was some awful pub singer accompanying it with Let it Go.

My friend said "She needs to bloody let it go..it's awful!" and it was.

Cream - no idea. I have just been on youtube and the trailer looks awful! I asked ds1 if he had heard about it at school and he said yes ' Sam' said it's something about a snowman called Oliver? But otherwise no idea. ( not even sure if above is correct)

We don't tend to have any cartoon/ Disney/ superhero/ etc stuff at home anyway so manage to avoid most stuff!

I too detest all Disney and don't know what the film's about either Vienna but I presume that as well as stupid princesses and a stupid snowman, it also has a stupid prince and a stupid wicked witch or something. I'm amazed some parts of London are still untouched by it, art.

Could be worse, my office is on Regent St in London where the lights are sponsored by... Night at the Museum 3.

This is a place where people make special trips JUST to see the lights and they've just sold out to the highest bidder. I appreciate they must cost a bit but I imagine this pales into insignificance compared to the money spent on the street in the next 6 weeks.

At least Frozen is vaguely seasonal. Last year it was Mr Peabody and Sherman (no idea...)

I'm with you OP. I especially hate the TV adverts on at the moment (one is Vodafone cant remember the other) with people singing that bloody song. Total Frozen overload everywhere.

The school fetes around here all seem to be Frozen themed. That dorky snowman on the flyers, kids in those asda costumes, soundtrack playing on a continuous loop in background, turquoise cupcakes. I've never seen the film and I'm sick of it.

I feel sorry for my friends who have girls. Have seen pics of more than one party on Facebook with a dozen girls dressed up as Elsie and the other one, running around in a sugar induced frenzy. :D
