To wish the teenage girls shrieking outside our house would just fuck off?

Every bloody weekend (and sometimes weeknights) a gaggle of teenage girls sit on our neighbours driveway wall and just shriek at top volume to each other. I'm fucking sick of it. They wake 11mo DS2 every time - the only other place I can have him sleep is downstairs with us until we go to bed by which time they have usually gone. Confronting them or even politely asking them to stfu makes it worse, as our other neighbour found out when he tried.

Why the hell do they find our street so fascinating (it really isn't and I know most of them don't even live here) and why the hell can't they converse on a level lower than a million decibels? I'm sure I never felt the need to shriek and squeal every 30 seconds when I were a lass, so why the fuck do they????

It's really fucked me off tonight as I have a lovely pizza waiting downstairs, and now DS is awake he's decided he wants another bf.

Get one of those speakers that blast a horrible noise that only teens can hear - they'll move without knowing why

If you're ok with a bit of confrontation ask them politely to move it down the block?

Just take crying baby outside and stand next to them. They'll soon bugger off.

Ring the police and say they are causing a disturbance. They will come and tell them to be quiet or clear off.

The speaker thing sounds good Laurie, I shall be googling that. I would normally go and ask them to keep it down but when our neighbour politely asked them he got a load of abuse and they were actually worse for a while (mostly in front of his house). The next time he chased them off in a not so polite manner but they were back within the hour and louder than ever.

Maybe I could fit them with dog collars that give electric shocks when they bark.....one can dream!

Just tell them to go away as they are too loud? Thats what I do when people do it outside our house then go on Facebook and rant

YANBU shrieking teenage girls are jarring. I know, I have onesmile I would be horrified if they were doing it outside someone else's house - so thoughtless.

Agree with Coolas and Gillian - I wouldn't go out and confront them - some teenage girls can be very unpleasant and might not let it end there.

I had considered taking crying DS out there - he's got a damn good set of lungs so they probably wouldn't be able to hear each other shrieking! However, it is raining - you'd think that would put them off but no.
PCOS is a good idea, I'll give them a call.

Aah - cross post ipswich!

Speak to your neighbourhood pcso/constable, this would come under antisocial behaviour which the police have powers to deal with.

been there, but it was my wall they were sitting on.... one night I decided to go and join them... I just came out of my house, asked them to 'shove up' and sat next to them not saying a word. It took 9 minutes exactly for them to go away. Not another word was spoken between us.
Job done

It has been very dry weather recently. I think a noise activated garden sprinkler is totally justified smile

Mrsstarlord Sat 15-Nov-14 20:31:01

Trouble - you are a genius!

brunette123 Sat 15-Nov-14 20:31:04

put your sprinkler on your front garden and turn it on so that they get sprayed.

yellowrose2728 Sat 15-Nov-14 20:32:02

Id like to say that I'm NOT advocating this yes I am , but when I was younger and we had a similar issue, our neighbour accidentally on purpose tipped her leftover vegetable oil... It just happened to go aaaallllllllllllll over the wall. Teenagers soon found somewhere else to sit wink

bigTillyMint Sat 15-Nov-14 20:32:10

OP, you could try trouble's suggestion with DS in your armsgrin

Please dont get a mosquito. It is annoying for everyone under the age of 25 and sll animals. Just call the police.

beavington Sat 15-Nov-14 20:34:26

Ha trouble that was brave i wouldve felt like a dick doing that even though its an excellent idea and totally justified. I gather you were at the end of your tether!

BrowersBlues Sat 15-Nov-14 20:35:12

You and your neighbours should all go out there each night, talk crap and cramp their style.
Or find out where they live and sit and shriek outside their houses.
