AIBU?

AIBU or is DH (very boring)

Myself and DH are going away for 4 days on Saturday with our 5mo DD. staying in a relatives holiday cottage in a small village but within reasonable driving distance to larger towns. We are taking 1 car, both of us can drive.

I have started packing and in conversation this morning I said how I was going to pack 5 bottles for DD. He said I was being ridiculous and we should be taking AT LEAST 15. Now DD at the moment has 4-5 bottles per day so I was planning on cleaning them out after we have used each one and popping in a cold water steriliser solution (no rinse Milton)

He completely disagrees and actually started trying to argue with me about it. He seems to really think I'm in the wrong here.

AIBU or is he.

If everyone agrees with DH then I suppose I will just pack 15? Room isn't an issue as our car is spacious and it's only going to be the 3 of us travelling ... Sorry for the very boring thread Grin

He is. 5 bottles is plenty.

Haha love it. I'd pack 7 normal ones and one tiny one (7.5) just to be petty :)

Seriously - If space isn't an issue just go for the 15. and then make sure you only use the same 4

Compromise and take 10? Ie 2 days worth? That way there's no need to rush if you're out for the whole day, you will still have clean bottles left and only need to wash/sterilise once a day.

Let your DH pack for and be in charge of DD.

You just relax.

The only thing you need 15 bottles of is wine.

I think we had 6 bottles which prevented arguments of this type

Do you actually have 15 bottles?

Viviennemary · 11/11/2014 21:58

15 bottles is a bit excessive. I'd take the five and an extra one or two.

Pack 7 and a small one like Didyou suggested. Compromise at its best. Grin

But take the 15 of wine.Wine

Surely the bottles wouldn't still be sterile after 1/2 days anyway or am I being thick?

You own 15 bottles!? Bizarre.

What sort of steriliser do you use? We have a microwave one that fits four in so we have four bottles. Id just chuck the steriliser in the car.

KnackeredMuchly · 11/11/2014 22:01

I'd compromise on 8.

Ps the reuseable microwave sterilising bags are FAB

Why 15? Do you even have that many?! Hibu perhaps take 5 and 1 spare

Report
slithytove · 11/11/2014 22:04

Well...

Will he be using different plates/glasses/cutlery each day and if so who will wash it all up at the end of the trip or will someone be doing washing up each day?

He sounds barmy. A days worth is fine. What a stupid thing to pick an argument about.

Goodness I only ever owned six bottles. It wouldn't occur to me buy more. If I'd had fifteen there would have been shit loads of stuff hanging round constantly!

Do they still sell the disposable ones? Pack your 5 and a pack of the disposable ones for emergencies.

And wine. Take the wine.

15 is a lot.

I don't think we ever owned more than 6 at once.

TA has made me laugh. The first time we took our baby out after we moved into formula, (only go into church may I add) dh insisted on bringing cooled boiled water in a huge ice box, a flask, the powder, the works.

I was like this Shock

I popped a ready made carton in the bag and told him not to be so silly and I think he took great offence as he was so excited. Kitchen roll and all came with us!

You have 15!

I think we had 7 max (three big ones and four little). Milton and washing them up will be fine. Your DH is being silly.

You don't need 15 bottles of wine, that makes you a collector...
