To think that pop stars have an unfair advantage on Strictly?

Surely most pop stars have to do a bit of dancing for their living? At least they have a better sense of rhythm and music than the rest.

Or sports stars have an advantage as they're fitter, or news presenters have an advantage because they're used to being the focus of live TV...

Pop stars often haven't won. It's unlikely they'd be awful, but I don't think they're guaranteed to be the best.

Certainly modern popstars that move around a fair amount, yes I agree. Definitely Frankie and Pixie this year. It'll still be a challenge to learn the steps but they'll be more used to learning routines and dancing than the others. They don't often win though do they? Just trying to think of a popstar that actually won and can't off the top of my head...

I don't think all pop stars have an unfair advantage. But I certainly think it is unfair that some contestants have been dancing since they first walked and have had professional training of some sort. Ie Frankie from this series and the corrie actress (Natalie?) from last years.

Alesha Dixon won. Rachel Stevens and Kimberly Walsh both came 2nd. Harry Judd won but was a drummer so no dancing but excellent sense of rhythm.

it depends, not all pop stars are good dancers. and the routines (they do) aren't taxing as they have to mime sing as well.

Frankie and Pixie both went to stage school so would have danced a lot.

I don't really care that they have an "unfair" advantage. They're very entertaining to watch.

As lovely as Judy Murray appears to be, if everybody in the show danced like her, people wouldn't watch. It's painful to watch and not entertaining after a point.

Scott Mills dancing made Judy look like Ginger Rogers mind. Actually couldn't watch him.

You have to have some people who can dance a bit otherwise it just wouldn't be worth watching. It's a new skill for all of them and the eventual winner will have to be able to dance, be able to learn and execute routines and connect with an audience, a bit of previous dance experience will only get them so far.

I wish Frankie and the rest of her, erm, band would stop singing. They are dire. Famous for miming and putting on makeup with a trowel.

Not a fan of the Frankie bashing. She is a lovely girl and has faced some very personal battles in her life which she has over come :). and she didn't go to stage school. Wink

She's a shit excuse for a singer and their 'music' is an insult to the ears.

So what if she had a few personal battles? Lots of people do.

She may be a lovely person, but that band is crap.

Didn't she Penguin? I thought I read that she had gone to the Brit School. Could easily have been someone else though.

Not sure why she's getting a bashing though, the band she's in release perfectly nice pop music by numbers and none of them are offensive as people, certainly she isn't.

She always wanted to go Ali but didn't! :)

Ah that must have been it, Penguin!

I've liked her since her S Club Junior days (we're the same age in my defence!).
