To refuse my 10 year old boy to wear hat with Pom Pom and plaits?

Dh has just come back with a hat for my 10 year old son. It has plaits and a Pom Pom (Peruvian style). I laughed my head off and grabbed the receipt. Dh tells me to get with the times. Really!!!???? He looks ridiculous. Reality check please.

What does your son say? If he likes it and wants to wear it, then why not? Either he will be with the in crowd by wearing it or he will soon decide it is a bad idea...

I'm pretty sure my 15 year old son has something similar. He also has a yellow pokemon hat, a bowler hat and a top hat (there's a fez around the house somewhere). What's wrong with his hat, exactly? If he likes it and it keeps his head warm then there's no issue to be honest.

They're cool. I'd let my boys wear one if they wanted. Seen plenty of kids wearing them round here - of both sexes.

My DS17 wears one like that-though also has his trouser waistband at nearly crotch level, so I wouldn't base my fashion sense entirely on his choices!!!

Why do you get to veto the hat. Who made you boss? Why is it not an acceptable choice for headway that his father chose for him?
The most important thing is, does your ds like it? That's all that counts. Doesn't matter if you think it looks ridiculous, you are not the one wearing it.

I'm fairly sure we have a hat with multi coloured fake dreadlocks (fabric strips with knots at the ends) and one with coloured spiky triangles. Can't have too many hats

They are def in....get with the times mother as your DH says, & don't forget he'll come up with some much more ridiculous outfits/ headgear on years to come so I hope you'll not be so dismissive. It makes them worse honestly.

Ds was with dh when they bought it. He has no interest whatsoever and would go to school with a saucepan on his head. He looks slightly nerdy anyway but this hat ?? makes him look, well...... Oh well, looks like I'm old-fashioned from all these speedy replies!! Thanks everyone.

Oh hell! I just bought one for DS (3yrs) and me today I must be naff now
I liked them because they looked nice and way better than a boring beanie hat.
I do draw the line at those animal face hats that have the long dangly paws
