Last August an acquaintance of dh's was trying to rehome a dog on FB for her mil, who got a Labrador puppy, despite having a heart problem and not being able to walk very far.

The Mils condition worsened, and necessitated long hospital stays so after much debate dh and I took the dog, and gave her £100, rather than her be pts or flogged in FB.

We have since had her spayed, and her microchip changed into our name.

The mil has been in touch to say her other son has just left the army, and could therefore do the walking, and can she have the dog back?

Aibu to say no you can't you cheeky cow, we love her and she is very much part of our family.

If she does respond saying she doesn't want to buy it back then tell her you'd never give away a much loved member of your family.

YANBU OP if you took the dog on on the basis it was forever, not as a temporary measure. Has the woman shown any interest in even seeing the dog since you took him in?

I did add her dil on Facebook so they could see Daisy's progress, but that is the only contact they have had, seeing a few photos on FB.

The email to dh says she has always regretted letting her go.

She is not having my dog.

And yes, we made it very clear it was a permanent thing, funnily enough after a poster on here (HoneyDragon?) suggested this very thing might happen!

The dog was two in September, therefore she has spent over half of her life here.
