Partially nostalgia, partially because I want to use them as ideas for Christmas pressies for DC and DNs this year.
Most of the things I remember really loving aren't readily available now,or were homemade but lego, scalextric and games like operation were big hits for us as kids. There were others I struggle to remember the names of but can kind of picture that I am hoping might come up in this!

I think anything where you used your own imagination stays with me - so lego, dolls, crafts. Anything that only did one specific thing or was fancy but a novelty soon became boring -am looking at you Mr Frosty Grin

No nothing major I didn't have many toys. I remember Mum and Aunty once made new clothes for all my dolls and packed them in a little cardboard suitcase. That was my favourite. I had a toy sweet shop most years with hundreds and thousands in the jars. Oh, and a little toy post office with a tin post box, that was nice. I had books every year, a new dress, new jamas and a selection box as well as a stocking of bits and bobs.

Etch-a-sketch - I was brilliant at it.

Yes, I have bought myself one.

Oh and think it was called "pop up pirate" sure I've seen it recently. Playmobile, my mum kept all mine and dd has recently discovered it and plays for hours with it.

Saw an advert for the Simon light up game (Simple Simon ...not called that now). It's been modernised. I was very envious of my friend who had one back in the 70s

Lego is the biggest one for us.

DD loved Playmobil better than Lego - it's an old toy, but we never had it at home. I was a Lego kid.

Maybe Meccano? That's even older. My dad was a Meccano child. DB and I used to play with it occasionally, but nowhere near as much as Lego. I don't think my kids would know what it is - they had the plastic toddler version and weren't interested, so we didn't bother with the metal stuff.

When my nearly 23yr old was little, I got him the newer Pop up Pirate...called Jumping Pirate Ship.

It was brilliant!

You stuck the swords into the sides of the ship, and the little Pirate's head was attached to a semi inflated balloon.

Then when you stuck the sword in, instead of popping up, he used to fly round the room instead Grin

But I've not been able to buy it for my other kids because I just haven't seen it sold anywhere for years Sad

Spirograph!

Also, when a bit older, cards, dominos and uno.

Meccano, scalectrix, big builder (giant version of lego - you could build a den to play inside!), doll's house with sylvanian family bits, and those little trucks on wheels you could ride outside (and transport things in the inside compartment).
