Lets hope he would be first and only then, or any subsequent DC may have a complex.

As a joke, if he's about 30 and everyone knows it's a pisstake then yeah, you could probably get away with it.

You know though, you have to have some fun with your kids.

I made our tickle 'stop' word "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and any time they want something, they have to give me 5 compliments and perform an act of worship. Grin

My husband has now started doing the worship thing any time he wants to go to the pub.

We are easily amused Blush

anyway, my point (finally) is it isn't actually a bad thing or doesn't automatically make you a dick if you have these daft things. Sometimes it's good to be daft with your family.

Oh dear. Hope he's still very young. If not you're nuts, come to think of it even if he is small it's pretty nuts.

Can see a thread on here twenty five years hence from his poor wife asking how she deals with her mummy's boy dh.

Why am I picturing Georgie from BBCAmerica's 'Almost Royal'?

I do sometimes refer to myself to DM as "your first born love child" as she once told.me thats what she thought of me as. Usually it's only if Im trying to talk her into cooking a Sunday Roast or something though. Never seriously.

I think this is a Masterclass in 'How to embarrass your teens"

(I go for Mummy's Little Soldier. In Public. Keeps them in line beautifully).

Agree with everyone else, so long as it's in a very silly context, OK. Otherwise a) really cringe making and b) problematic for any subsequent children.

I sometimes refer to my children as No1 son/daughter and best daughter/son in the whole wide world. But only in private and with the expectation of either a highly sarcastic response or something similarly soppy back (like I say only in private!). dd generally points out that she is my only daughter, but also tells me that it is important to feed her ego, so to keep them coming (she is 14 and not always the most polite child Grin).

Oh, and she has just told me that your ds saying that is 'totally awesome'.

Yes you are, if in the privacy of your house and jokingly referred to , fine.

Said in Sainsburys by you to him, embarrassing!

My DD is very scathing when I call her my favourite daughter. She tells me she is my only daughter. She is a very serious child with the penchant to be a pedant amongst other things atm

Come back OP!....we need to know how old and it what context...When one of mine says' its not fair, you never let me stay out that late/let me have parties...etc'...I say... 'well yes but that's cos I love them much more than I love you!'...obviously I would never have said it when they were younger but now as adults I just get the 'look'...And I have a favourite eldest son, youngest son and a favourite DD!

My mum used to talk about my biggest sister being like the first pancake. I'm not sure it was awfully kind (from a mother, absolutely fine from a little sister!).

Report
Wolfiefan · 01/11/2014 22:03

Oh fuck! I'm the first pancake in our family.
Damn you MN

I'm the first pancake. My younger brother has always been known by family, my parents' friends, the postman, in fact anyone who vaguely knew us as THE DARLING BOY.
