There's a distinct lack of imagination and enthusiasm this year judging by those who have knocked at door so far this evening.

I blame ASDA Walmart of course

3/10 so far for effort - buck up everyone. I'll be keeping the Haribo all to myself at this rate

I know you're being lighthearted, so I don't want to piss on your parade (and I totally understand the wanting to keep Haribo to yourself!) but my DS is in a Wilko suit, a Sainsburys mask, Asda axe. I work, and to manage to get him round trick or treating before bedtime I genuinely just don't have the time to face paint etc. plus I'm shit at crafty stuff anyway! I feel a but bad but hey, at least he's dressed up!

So far ours have been lovely - cute, polite, and very restrained in only taking one sweet each from the tub. I approve!

DS is allergic to face paint but luckily he has a severe case of bed hair to make up for it. The only skeleton with wacky hair so far...

It's picking up a pace now, it's not unusual to see 100 or so little ones come to the door.

Definitely gets less creative as they get older. I don't give away my sweets to older kids who just look a bit intimidating (actually I do, I'm a total pushover and easily scared.)

I put a full month into our costumes this year. My daughter is an evil Alice I. Wonderland complete with dead rabbit handbag and trophies from her victims, I am Ursula (each tentacle took 4-5 hours of sewing) and I made a triton and ariel outfit for my husband and friend. I am about to take my lot out for free doughnuts and pancakes before the trick or treating begins - I reckon I earned a doughnut

I got home from work, had a halloween feast with the kids and just spent an age face painting 7 faces ready to go out trick or treating! Lol i hope people appreciate it!

I just had five tweens in onesies turning up at my door who could barely muster a bored 'Happy Halloween' between them! I did say 'Oh come on - you've got to be scarier than that!', which raised a titter and then grabbed handfuls of sweets. No bloody manners. That's the problem in this country - people don't know how to act on Halloween, because its all quite new.

The worst funniest was one year when an older lad came round with a carrier bag hat on. Yep, he was a bag.

Almost all the ones at our door (at least 60) have had good costumes, and been polite. I've only had to have words with one youngster for grabbing a handful of sweets rather than 1.
My DDs have donated some of theirs to the cause as we have run out, but I'll be closing up at 7:30.
