I can't really eat for the past week. Well I am but not what I consider proper meals. An average day's intake has been a piece of fruit, a sandwich and four crackers with a couple of glasses of juice over the day, and I exercise for about 40 mins a day too. I'm just not hungry. I get weak when it's been ages since eating but then once I start I feel sickened by the food and full up really fast.

I am eating, as above, but nothing like my usual version of normal which is a substantial breakfast like egg on toast, a hearty salad for lunch and a big helping of dinner. Plus maybe an afternoon snack or cheese after dinner.

Very stressed for lots of reason which I think is why. But before I've always gone the other way and tucked into chocolate or crisps when stressed! What has happened? Has anything similar ever happened you? When did your appetite come back?? This is seriously messing with my enjoyment of food, it's become a chore, and making me miserable.

Euphemia has said it for me. The only time I've lost my appetite was when exH left. Even losing my parents or my DS being DXed with ASD didn't have that effect.

I had the same when my depression and anxiety got worse. I loathed food. Food shopping made me feel sick. I mainly survived on orange juice and croissants. Whereas normally when I'm stressed I tend to overeat.

It got better after a while but I had to make a conscious effort. Lost a stone in the process.

When i was doing my a levels i couldnt eat. Just felt full up and if anything was eaten felt very sick after a bite (and i mean a bite). I know my best friends mum was worried about me at the time as she took me and best friend out for a meal to feed me up but i couldnt eat anything. Looking back i was very stressed. Lived on mints for weeks and water. The none eating disappeared due to another friends mum who invited me, my parents over and cooked my fav lamb roast with all the trimmings. That smell of that lamb cooking. We sat talking in the kitchen whilst it cooked. I hadnt eaten probably for weeks (mints only) but i swear that lamb was the best food i have ever eaten. I was given wine too which id not had before. That and the results i found out the day before and for reason i eat. Took several years to get the feeling of hunger back. Have no problems eating now! So op you can due to stress. There is other reasons but you need to talk to your gp. X

Depression anxiety stress can make you gorge or starve

I think an iron deficiency can make you lose your appetite, it certainly does with me anyway

I have had a very strange thing twice in my life where I have completely lost my appetite, and eaten NOTHING for upwards of 10 days. No explanation, wasn't ill, just didn't feel any urge to eat. Didn't loose any weight Hmm and didn't feel faint/dizzy or any normal side effects of starvation. Then resumed eating as normal. Its very bizarre when it happens.

I lose my appetite when I'm stressed, but despite not being particularly stressed over the last two days have really struggled - just sort of staring at my porridge for ages in the morning and only eating half of it, skipping snacks and lunch, not wanting my evening meal.

normally am so hungry all the time, eat every two or three hours, dream about food etc

I don't mind at all not eating but I do hate the effect it has on how well I can run (like shit today)

I am sorry for all the stressfull stuff people have gone through who have experienced the no urge to eat thing, but glad I am not alone!

Incredibly frustrating. Cant wait until normal service is resumed with whatever stress hormones are responsible for this little stunt.

Often. I just go off food, can't think what I want so don't bother
Stress or being very happy makes me go off food too

I often get sick of the things I'm eating and need to change everything. I can forget to eat if i'm really busy. But I never actually lose my appetite for anything. I'll always find something I want to eat!

I'm a proper comfort eater and have never gone off my food, despite having some very challenging experiences in my life, lots of anxiety/stress/depression, the kind of thing that is supposed to make people lose their appetite. I've always secretly envied those who drop a dress size when they're feeling miserable - not that I envy their misery, it's just that I get miserable too but end up ballooning in weight as well.
