Known my friend for years, she is lovely. Funny, clever, friendly, raises loads of money for charity etc. One day she got her eye lashes done as a one off for a party and got chatting to the lady who was doing them. This lady persuaded her to buy a product from her - I remember my friend saying at the time that it was a hard sell and she didn't want to buy it.

She did buy it though and she is now hooked and now sells it too. She thinks others need to be persuaded as hard as she did to buy it. She genuinely believes she is providing a really helpful service and has stopped all her usual charity fundraising and all time is spent on "helping people change their lives" - ie sell them this product too.

On FB of anyone questions it she shouts them down and copies and pastes paragraph upon paragraph of "research" on it and then blocks the person.

She is being tagged in all sorts of posts about it now after some kind of huge meet up at the weekend, examples -

"So totally mind blowing experience over the past 4 days with amazing people. Abso loved every min of it guys thanks so much. Can't even put into words how i feel right now. The emotions, the ambitions, where this company is going. The scientific research is flawless... the peer study reviews OMG this is just the start... & where we not only as a company but where we as a team are going... this is ready for take off..."

"This was by far the most amazing experience ever, and to think this is work is just insane. Love the products, love the business, love the people and the positivity surrounding everything we are doing. "

"I'm sooo motivated to take my business to the next level and I want you all to join me!!! I want to make your life better, your family and friends life better. I promise... I can do this for you, all you need to do is PM me and give me a chance to prove it.
Life is too short to wait!
I don't want you looking back in a years time thinking "I wish I took a chance" own your own life starting today. I guarantee it'll be the best thing you've ever done ??
Come to this event tomorrow night (Details in the poster below) I will sort transport for you. An hour is all I ask, it will change your life. You've got absolutely nothing to lose but everything to gain XxX"

What has happened to my lovely friend? It is all she talks about now :( I miss her. Any problem you have she has an answer...her product! Some friends have bought it to shut her up but she doesn't even stop then - she wants you to buy more and more and then start selling.

She sounds totally brainwashed. Sorry, I wouldn't like to spend much time with her if this is the way she has become.

Yup. Cult.

Quite a few of these knocking about now. It's really sad.

What is she selling? Drugs or religion!?

Maybe she has been promised that she can make loads of money from selling this stuff.

Yep, brainwashed. I hear stories about this kind of thing ALL THE TIME. It's amazing how susceptible some people can be.

Is it FLP

PumpkinPieInTheSky · 15/10/2014 09:16

Am I allowed to say? It is Juice Plus.

I couldn't fucking sell it myself the amount of stuff I have heard about it.

She has just posted on FB she is going to give up her job and go full time selling - fuck!

given the sueballs being thrown at mumnetters, I'd urge caution. Some of these outfits are incredibly litigious.

I lost a friend this way, it became impossible to just meet up for a coffee and a chat because on her side there was always an agenda Sad. Not seen her for a few years now so don't know if she ever "got out" or not. These pyramid selling schemes are lethal to friendships!

It's not herbalife is it? I know a couple of people who sell that and the obsession they have with it sounds familiar...

smack her over the head with a frying pan.

When trained as a therapist that was called the 'tefal approach'.

I suspect she will quickly go off her newfound 'love'. When it doesn't deliver the money and people start coming back complaining/threatening to sue, she will come to her senses.

is it herballife or foreverliving?

I have a friend who does herballife, and I hate to say this, but he's been doing it for eight years and has only got worse over time. Fortunately he lives 6000 miles away so my exposure to him is limited to fb. ;)

One of my friends sells this shit stuff, but has stayed relatively normal, but someone I have mutual friends with is incredibly rude to anyone asking perfectly reasonable questions about jp.

I saw her telling people to "fuck off" on a status the other day as a response to asking for links about research! Shock

Half way through your op I knew it was juice plus .

I think with JP you have to buy all the product in first so she is probably saying all these things to make her money back . Or she'd be stuck with boxes of the stuff no one is buying .

Still pita though Hmm

When one of my son's was critically ill, a friend's father got in touch to say he could cure my boy. In an exclamation spattered email he tried to sell him Magic juice!!!!!

We didn't know if my son would survive and this bastard saw it as a selling opportunity.

She won't publicly tell anyone how much it is either - if they ask she says she will PM them or pop round to talk about it!

Ok guys, here's the deal.

I have a new product. Totally new, untested and unlicenced.

It's called 'commute123' and IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE not for the better

For a measly £80 a week it will make you fitter, smarter, sexier, healthier, more attractive, poorer, taller and slimmer.

I have proof. Before I started taking this I was at least £80 a week poorer short, fat, ugly and thick. Not look at me! A success! I have a ferrari, bentley, wear armani, have a house in the Hamptons...

Tell your friends! Tell your neighbours! just don't tell trading standards

Yes. The scientific research on this branch of psycho-physics is well worth reading!

My DP has blocked two people on FB (old school friends, no-one he really cared that much about) who now sell Juice Plus and every status update bangs on about it. A girl in my office did it on and off for a few months and it seems awful, you wouldn't catch me doing it.

I sort of dread to ask but what are the negatives about Juice Plus the product? Confused

Isn't it vegetable juice and really healthy then?

but this time last year she would have said the same, she was really never like this.

bee that does not surprise me at all :( Have seen those photo post things - you know photo with words on it saying how JP sellers are like Drs and nurses, saving peoples lives every day by letting them know about it and they should all be proud or some such shit. Hope your ds is ok now :)
