Just curious as it seems to be everywhere nowadays but I'm not sure if this is a realistic perception. Is it just celebrities or is it us normal folk too? I think I'd be tempted if I had the money although not sure I'd actually go through with it because of the fear of it going wrong (infection, looking worse than before etc.).

Hi, yes I had rhinoplasty when I was 24, am now 41. Paid privately. Was ridiculed at school for my big nose and it had a big bump in it, so I had it made smaller :)

Same here I had a nose job in my twenties and glad I did it

Not me - I'm exactly as God and a few cream cakes have made me!

I haven't and wouldn't but I have 3 friends that have had boob jobs.

I have. I've had a boob job and tummy tuck. Botox and fillers are my best friends Smile.

I know of three breast reduction ops amongst friends. Seems like a very successful operation.

Sometimes see some terrible face lifts walking around.

soverylucky, you sound like me. I was so self-righteous about it when I was young and wrinkle-free. Not so convinced anymore. Those of you who have had 'work', did you tell people, and if you didn't, did they notice?

It's far too common now. It used to be seen as a bizarre not worth the risk vain thing to do in the 90's but now it's normal. That's scary.

My dentist has started to offer Botox, I always notice the poster and think...maybe...

When I was in my 20s and 30s no way would I have considered any work. I got to 42 and hated my stomach and non existent boobs without a bra on. I hadn't worn a bikini in years as I was so mortified by the loose skin and fat that would just not budge from my stomach. I never told anyone except DH and my sister that I was having anything done. I'm now confident in a bikini again. As for the Botox and fillers I never bother telling anyone. I don't over do it and tend to not want a plastic looking face. No way would I have the nerve for a facelift though, I'd be far too scared to let any surgeon mess with my face.

I haven't, but it's not unheard of in my social circle

Although I'm currently looking at a boob lift. The curse of big knockers for me is no perk, hate where my nipples are.

No. My sister regularly has restylane injected in her lips though and she loves is as it makes her feel more attractive.

I would consider having things done if I felt the need in future. I'm in my early thirties but people usually think I am much younger and I secretly love that (I'm vain!) so if that changes I may do something about it.

I had breast enlargement in Brussels about 3 years ago. Quite small implants as I wanted to be in proportion. It was a really successful operation and I'm so glad I had it done! Scars are practically invisible and my boobs look great.Grin

I was left £2K by a distant relative when I was in my early 30s and spent it on a nose job. Totally painless and well worth it. I'm now 60.

No, wouldn't go through an op and the expense of it for cosmetic reasons. There are things I would probably change if given a magic wand, but nothing that bothers me enough to have cosmetic surgery.

Tummy tuck to get rid of 'apron' left following huge weight gain, with massive bump, c section, then fast weight loss x 2 pregnancies.

Only told close family and have told friends since when they ask what I do to keep such a flat stomach.
All it did was put me in proportion again - I dropped from a 16 jeans to a 12 in the same style, just due to getting the thigh touching overhang chopped off.

It's easy to be rabidly anti cosmetic surgery if you don't have something that really affects your life and confidence, but if you've been in that position it's easier to understand.
(Not saying anyone here is rabid, just making an extreme example!)

I lost my boobs after having DD, bf'ing then losing weight (left with AAA flat) and got really fed up of wearing 3 padded bras just to look like I had any (also I have big curvy hips and bum) so had a boob job in 2007, best decision ever. Even though the right one looks slightly fake as I was so flat before. But the left looks pretty real! I will have them redone slightly smaller after next baby

I will get Botox at 30 I think just the line between my eyebrows gives me resting bitch face

No, I haven't, I know too many people who haven't had a successful outcome.
I briefly considered Botox, but my beautician (whos employer offers it), talked me our of it. Smile

You are going to get a skewed response here because those who haven't had plastic surgery are less likely to see this thread as interesting / applicable to them than those who have.

I haven't had plastic surgery but might consider it in the future as the years take their toll.

I can see myself considering an eyelid lift when I'm older. I've observed the op in real life, and I'll never forget this elderly woman coming in with eyelids so low and droopy she could barely see, and then waking up still in theatre and looking around at us all bright eyed. Amazing.

I haven't. My mum had a boob job though, she paid for it privately. That was about 10years ago x

Report
BadtzMaru · 04/10/2014 17:24

I haven't but I'd go private to get my ears sorted if money was no object. They are horrendous and I've never been able to wear my hair up because of them.

Report
TatTheCat · 04/10/2014 17:26

I haven't but know 3 people who've had boob jobs and several people who regularly use botox and fillers.

At the moment I wouldn't consider any cosmetic procedures, apart from teeth whitening. I do not consider myself to have anywhere near a perfect body or face but am happy with my lot.

Who knows how I will feel in years to come, particularly if everyone around me carries on making alterations to themselves.
