I know it's not the right thing to do, but I am devastated. I can not belive i have switched onto the news to go to bed and just seen this. That poor family

MyPrettyToes Tue 12-Aug-14 00:17:42

Oh no! Really? I didn't know this. So very sad. Is he not still very young. Early 60's?

gertiegusset Tue 12-Aug-14 00:18:26

I just saw, so sad, he was so funny.
Mork and Mindy was brilliant.

bruffin Tue 12-Aug-14 00:18:56

Only 63

ThistleDoMeNicely Tue 12-Aug-14 00:19:17

63 suspected suicide. Very sad for everyone involved.

SequinsOfEvents Tue 12-Aug-14 00:20:25

That is very sad to read....what a shock (although I find I have more and more of these shocks the older I get hmm)

A comedy talent who will be fondly remembered I am sure. Thoughts with his family and friends

MyPrettyToes Tue 12-Aug-14 00:20:43

Just had a quick scan of news sites and apparently it looks like suicide, according to some sort of official statement he has been suffering from severe depression. How devastating for his family.

Captain my Captain sad

its crazy that Night at the Museum was on a few hours ago ( uk TV) and now this news.

Jumblebee Tue 12-Aug-14 00:35:09

So sad, he was one of a kind. It's hard to believe that someone who made a career out of making other people laugh could be sad enough to take his own life.

I will never watch Aladdin in quite the same way again sad

"I heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed, life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town. Go see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears."But doctor" He says, "I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains."

I'm in shock. I loved this man and he was in all my favorite movies growing up.

Dontgotosleep Tue 12-Aug-14 00:47:16

I've seen a few films with him in. Mrs Doubtfire. 9 months. Night in the museum. Brilliant actor. R.I.P Robin. Condolences to his family.x

world's greatest dad was just shown on the news, and that certain part has made me feel like he was reaching out.

PinkLights Tue 12-Aug-14 01:03:38

Poor Man. I feel sorry for his family and friends.

CheesyBadger Tue 12-Aug-14 01:09:48

So so sad. It must be so hard struggling in the spotlight. RIP Robin

ACM88 Tue 12-Aug-14 01:29:36

Depression is a dark dark disease, what a sad loss, I'm genuinely gutted.
His wife said she hopes everyone remembers him for the joy he brought to their lives, and not the way he died. I think people will. As Dr. Seuss said, "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"

achtunglady Tue 12-Aug-14 02:21:50

I've never felt sadness before at the death of a celebrity. But as bizarre as it undoubtedly sounds, he doesn't seem like a celebrity. There are just so few people with that magical something about them and he truly emanated it from every pore, along with his warmth, humour and joy. He was a part of so many childhoods, brought tears of laughter to so many eyes and brought many a character to life. Such a sad, brutal loss.

SecretWitch Tue 12-Aug-14 02:27:15

So sad. He will be missed.

Coumarin Tue 12-Aug-14 02:43:32

O Captain! My Captain! Rise up and hear the bells. Rise up, for you the flag is flung, for you the bugle trills.

CoolCat2014 Tue 12-Aug-14 05:10:18

That's so so sad sad he was a brilliant actor. So sorry for his family.

dementedma Tue 12-Aug-14 06:35:13

Genuinely saddened to hear this. The Dcs grew up loving the film Aladdin and his voice of the Genie was an absolute masterpiece. Really sad news.

lostlalaloopsy Tue 12-Aug-14 06:46:07

I am really sad and shocked to hear this. He was a great actor, I grew up watching so many of his films. Dd and I just watched Jumanji the other day, really terrible news.
