I haven't watched this in years.

Good lord. Has there ever been a better - or fitter - bit of casting than this?

Much as I love Richard Armitage in North and South...

Darcy's hair alone has me going weak at the knees though the wine may have something to do with that too

They are my two top castings. Love love love it. Also love Ciaran Hinds in Persuasion.

The wet shirt scene...oh yes!

Colonel Fitzwilliam is a bit of a looker too. I'd forgotten that.

Now this is the right way to spend a Friday evening. Perving.

YANBU. He's perfect in it! (I always had a crush on Colonel Fitzwilliam though!) Grin

I don't get it. At all. He looks like a wet lettuce and I want to SHAKE him.

Wink

He's going to propose in a minute!

How, how, how did I think Matthew MacFadyen was alright as Darcy? He was lovely in Spooks. But not Darcy.

He looks all pissed off a growly. That's what's so good. That and the hair. Oh, and the arse in those trousers.

Wouldn't work so well though without Jennifer Ehle - perfect for Elizabeth & great chemistry!

No. There has not.

Perhaps Clark Gable as Rhett Butler, but even then, I dunno.

Colin as Darcy is perfection, and every time I watch the KK version, or some other pale imitation, like Death Comes to Pemberley, I wonder why other men even attempt to fill his shirt shoes.

YY re Jennifer.

Oh definitely, potato. I also have a massive girl crush on Jennifer Ehle in this. She's just perfect as Elizabeth - she genuinely does have 'fine eyes'. Interesting to see how TV's tastes in women's figures have changed over the past 20 years though. Everyone in this actually has boobs and is about a size 10. And they all look better for it.

I love how you're giving yourself a running commentary! Grin

I never got through the KK version, it was excruciating - mr bingley was like some hyperactive, E-number-pinging kid!
Jennifer Ehele really is fab isn't she? So expressive and....normal looking but pretty!
Also love the vile sisters - Anna chancellor and...er...the other one. Oh and who can beat Jeremy Kyle as mr Collins? He was so brilliantly obsequious!
Might watch this tomorrow in a marathon!

Definitely Colin Firth as D'Arcy. Mathew McFadyn is fwhoar but couldn't come close to Colin Firth. Didn't really rate Jennifer Ehrle. Whatchamacallher as Mrs Bennett was fantastic.

He's perfect. Best casting ever!

Jeremy Kyle wasn't Mr Collins- it was David Bamber wasn't it. He was fantastic- made me cringe with his obsequiousness.

Ooh yes, the vile sisters were wonderful, really vile. And Julia Sawalha as Lydia was great and the actor who played George Whickham.

I have a massive wide on just thinking about Mr Darcy's
'How much I ardently admire and love you' speech. Not to mention THAT wet shirt moment
faints with tingly longing

I didn't mind the KK version too much - it was a good attempt to bring the story down to 90 minutes. If I hadn't seen JE I might have thought KK was alright. The woman who plays Caroline Bingley in it is great.

And much as I love this version, Jane is so wrong - Rosamund Pike was a much better Jane.

Oh Christ, obviously it was David Bamber, Blush I was talking to a friend on FB about Jezza....and she's probably now very confused! Blush

Clarke Gable was perfect as Rhett, though when I watch it he always fades into comparison to how perfect Vivien Leigh is as Scarlett. That might actually be the best casting ever.
