To believe that I have memories from as early as age 2 or 3?

Inspired by another thread Wink

I believe that I've got memories from age 2-3. But my dad is adamant that I can't have and I'm imagining things.

I can remember my cot. Also having a stairgate on bedroom door and standing crying against it and my mum coming to get me. I can remember my pushchair and rain cover, the potty I had, I remember mum changing my nappy (and I was out of them by 2.5), And i can remember the game she'd play while doing it. I remember mum leaving me in the hallway in the buggy and being afraid if the dark. I remember being put in babygros with the feet cut off as they must have been too small. I can also remember my dad chucking my baby bottle out.

Lots of other things too. I remember quite clearly and in more detail, and I can describe the colours of these things and where in the house these things were etc.

My dad says it's not possible, but he can't explain how I can tell him the colour of the straps on my buggy and various other things, when I've never seen photos or been told these things.

Does anyone else have such early memories? Or believe it's impossible to have?

YANBU. I was in hospital for 2 weeks when I was 2. I can remember being carried around the ward at night by the nurses as they did their checks.

I have memories from 18 months/2 years. So yes, it is possible.

I should add that I've still got a good memory. Most annoying for some people, I certainly seem to have a very good visual memory.

I remember the day my sister was born (I was a week shy of my 2nd birthday), and I remember being in hospital on my 3rd birthday, so it definitely is possible.

I can vividly remember various things from nursery school where I would have been 3. I also remember various snippets of things when I was probably around 3 to, although not with loads of specific detail. I also remember sitting in the buggy with rain coming down on the plastic cover. I definitely think it is possible. An ex once claimed not to remember anything before about age 9 or 10 which I really found much more unbelievable than someone having memories of being a toddler!

I can remember things from I was that age. My sister clearly remembers me coming home from hospital (when she was 2yo). It's pretty common I thought?

I vaguely remember playgroup, when I was about three, and nursery, also very vaguely, when I was four. I also remember being in a pushchair and going to buy a grey anorak with my mum. For some reason that is probably my earliest memory.

Sometimes I think I can remember going to the doctor's with my mum when she was pregnant, but as I was 2.5 when my sister was born that's probably not the case.

It makes me think that DS is now 3.8 and will hardly remember anything about his life to date.

My earliest memory is being in a huge building and lots of people bustling about, I was with my mum, my aunt and my two older sisters.

This was an airport and we were coming back from Malaysia after my dad died there, I was 2yrs old.

I can remember the ambulance man bringing home my Ma and baby sister (because that is what happened in the early 70s) and me saying 'thank you man' to the ambulance man.

I can also remember going to buy the Wombles 45 with my Pa and this was a bribe present for me going into a 'big' bed and for me not to wet it (and I didn't!) and I can't have been more than 2 1/2 as my sis must have needed the cot.

I have memories from before age two, so it's very likely you do too. Just cause your Dad can't remember being that young, doesn't mean you can't.

Yes I could describe my bedroom to my dad in house we moved from when I was not three yet. The memory is of my dad telling me to come see my new baby brother who was born in that house so I was 2.5. There are no photos of it.

I can remember visiting my nan in hospital just before my second birthday and my brother coming home after he was born, when I was almost two and a half. I generally have a very good memory, so wonder if there's a correlation with that. I know DS remembered the rotary Santa coming round when he was two and a half the following year, and I'd certainly not mentioned it since so it wasn't implanted at all.

Thanks all.

It always really annoyed me that my dad has just dismissed it. He reckons he watched a programme about it and it's not possible.

Also, rainbow, my dp claims to have no early memories, nothing before age 8, so I did start to wonder if I was unusual.

I have lots of memories of being under 2, I thought it was quite normal till I spoke to other people! Clear memories including being in my cot and scratching the little patterns on the bumper, my mum greeting my dad as he came in one day with the words "she said daddy!!" ( she being me) amongst others. I'm absolutely convinced babies understand so much more language and what is going on when they are pre verbal than we give them credit for.

YANBU I remember my dummies (My Mum said she took them away from me at aged 2) but I have vivid memories of having 2, a pink and yellow one. The yellow was my favourite.

I remember being in the cot, my mum waking in the night and bringing milk. So I would have been pretty young, certainly no more than 18 months, probably less.

I remember toddling about at a Greek wedding aged 20 months, nicking people's champagne. Grin

I remember one of our Greek neighbours' dds taking me to the toilet and me feeling scared I'd fall down it at about the same age.

I was 2.5 years when we came to England and I was given some delicious orange juice in a plastic cup with a red straw on the flight.

There's loads of other things. A hurricane in Cyprus when I was 2. Staying with my Grand parents in Newcastle whilst waiting for married quarters and my Grandma smacking me for making a mess.

I can remember my cot and the room downstairs it was in and sharing the room with my cousin.

I also remember an incident from when I was 23 months

Memories vary a lot

I have vivid memories of being under 3 and I know this because of events and peoples ages of the memories iyswim.
Mine aren't memories of normal things though but the exception to normal like day out, dropping an ice cream and crying because auntie wouldn't buy me another.
I have dreamed about something that happened that i couldn't remember before i had the dream iyswim.
Is that weird or normal?

I remember my 3rd birthday! I got a black and yellow BMW tricycle. They covered it with a bed sheet and my sisters said I couldn't go I'm the living room cause there was a monster in there! Grin (There are no pictures of this either for me to have seen it! My mum confirms it too!)

I remember my granny coming to lift me out of the travel cot and then peeling me an orange.

And I remember visiting her in hospital and being really worried I would make the very very clean room dirty (if I say more it will out me.)

Anyway, she died a few weeks after my 2nd birthday so those memories would be before that.

I also remember being on reins, and I remember being bribed with a certain toy to stay dry at night, all around the age of 3.

So its definitely possible.

I can remember the feeling of falling onto my bottom and my fall being broken by my nappy. I have lots of memories from age 2 I can date accurately due to moving house, whereas dh can't remember anything at all until he started school.
