To want bigger ankles ( lighthearted )

I dred the summer months. Clothes are my worst nightmare as I do not wear shorts, skirts or anything that would have me get my legs out. I don't like my skinny ankles and long to make them look bigger, exercise doesn't help.I look at ladies in their lovely little floaty summer dressses and cute sandals with their nice ankles and think they look so lovely but it will never be me.
When the maxi dress became fashion I praised the fashion gods because it gave me light relief in the summer.
Friends say I have slim ankles, but they are ok because their ankles are normal looking I think they are just trying to pacify me.
Had an ex that used to take the piss and say my legs look like chicken drumsticks and would then put his head back and laugh at his own comment!

I don't have ankles.
I go straight from foot to calf - no messing around.

I suspect this is a much bigger deal than it actually is and your ex has not helped.
I bet no one notices your ankles or if they do they admire their slimness

I don't think there is much you can do to build up ankles and increase their size, but you canwear shoes which will make your ankles look bigger - don't wear heavy chunky shoes or wedges, wear something with a lot of ankle strappage - espadrilles type lacing, or sandals with thicker strapping round ankles. I saw a woman the other day wearing sort of bangles round her ankles and pedal pushers - they looked really good (doesn't sound it, but they did)

If all else fails I am willing to donate some of my fat ankleness Grin - I'm sure your legs look lovely - my grown up DD has very slender ankles and I think she looks fab - she wears silver/gold ballet pumps which look really nice too.

Your X sound like a bit of a knob - he's an X for a reason, unfortunatley if we are sensitive about something we tend to listen to the one person who says something rude and ignore all the people (like your friends) who are paying us compliments.

My XH told me I looked awful in skirts and I should never wear them - I didn't for years, and I still feel a bit self conscious about it, but I do wear them now with a kind of F* you attitude Grin

I like my little ankles. They're the only part of my that's skinny, apart from my wrists. Yes, I do look like I should be in a circus...

Please can we swap? Mine are full of fluid and won't fit in my shoes.

I'm pretty judgemental, but I don't think I've ever seen someone whose ankles I thought were too thin. I think your ex is an arsehole. Your ankles sound fine.

Wear thick wool work socks at all times, even while swimming, wearing sandals, and in the heat of summer.

I guarantee no one will notice your thin ankles.

Anyone who is walking along critiquing other womens ankles has problems of their own.

Your ex is an arsehole op, don't take notice of his words.
Mine are quite skinny too and if it makes you feel better I call myself parsnip legs :)
Yes to shoes/sandals that go to your ankle.
You can wear anything you like to wear so if you're comfy in long dresses then wear them - FUCK FASHION Shock :)

If I hadn't seen your name on the boards before OP I'd think you were an ankle fetishist. Grin the use of "ladies" and your waxing lyrical about floaty dresses etc...

The ankle votes are in from the ObfusKate/Testing panel and it's unanimous!

I'd love to have slim elegant ankles. Rather that than the thick chunky man cankles I possess that are supported by my equally chunky broad feet. (They match my hands)

What? Surely skinny ankles are what we aspire to? I certainly do - I have a fine pair of sturdy cankles Grin

DH has lovely skinny ankles, he doesn't appreciated them Envy

Thing is, Shake/abig - you've never heard of a broken cankle now, have you?

We're just evolved, that's all.

Please swap with me. I have huge 8 months pregnant feet and ankles. I would post a pic but I'd horrify even the strongest of stomachs. Even Birkenstocks on the loosest rung leave an indentation! I'm sure your slim ankles are beautiful Smile

I too have disproportionately skinny ankles. My legs aren't skinny anywhere else. I have been told that they don't like they would be able to support my weight on more that one occasions. Strangers also like to point it out to me.

OP, my DD has the same type of ankles as you. In some clothes and shoes she looks fabulous, but other styles don't suit her. I would say to avoid anything chunky like trainers as they seem to emphasise how skinny her ankles are. If she wears dainty shoes like ballet shoes or narrow pumps it looks much better.

I would swap with you in a heartbeat; I have horrible thick ankles that sometimes swell and look hideous.

For all my other flaws, I am blessed with the smallest ankles possible of someone my size - I say small, they are still big in comparison to most and probably err on the masculine side but they are a godsend to my otherwise chunky frame. I have no idea why they are so bony (they truly are) and why my feet look so bloke like when the rest of me is very ample. I'm pretty vein-y too...I sound beautiful Hmm

Boots always sag on my ankles - first world problem, I know. I don't want bigger ankles though, I'll take my skinny ones but I do wish they looked a bit more feminine.

I am reporting your post, Obfus, as it does not support my deluded world view.

I have small ankles and wrists and as critical of myself as I can be sometimes, I've never had an issue with them. I've never ever noticed someone's ankles or wrists either. Can't imagine looking at someone and thinking "Pfft what the hell is going on with those skinny ankles?" They're just ankles.

Your ex was really weird.
