AIBU?

To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Why couldn't she just make arrangements to meet her husband during the weekend and feed the baby?

I would be very interested in hearing what correspondence was between them before the booking was cancelled, but if it's anything like the Facebook comments I don't blame them.

It's an adults only spa retreat, babies are not allowed into the venue. It's not a breastfeeding issue.

I thought the protest was for 11am?

You've not let a wee trickle of rain put you off, j'espere?

If you're not returning, then why start another friggin thread? Hmm

Ridiculous. Victoria is a serial moaner that threatens companies with exposure on social media. You are supporting this nonsense and giving breast feeding women a bad name. You will be a laughing stock and the media attention this protest will get will make things WORSE for BF mums and just give the DM more opportunity to sport phrases like 'BF Nazis' and 'Breastapo'

You need rethink this protest. You are doing BFing NO favours at all. Victoria is using you and it's only other parents that will suffer.

If she was intending to feed away from cedar falls why even mention it to them?

Report
AtYourCervix · 14/07/2014 13:32

If it is not a breastfeeding issue why are you organising a 'nurse-in'?

Report
HaroldLloyd · 14/07/2014 13:32

People that don't agree with you are not anti breastfeeding nor non supporters of being able to breastfeed in public btw.

Pumpkinpositive · 14/07/2014 13:32

I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets yanked too, seeing as you've revealed the complainer's forename in the OP. Hmm

I do love it when somebody won't read posts or responses but wants everybody to read their postings.. how so very nice of them Grin

FWIW, I breastfed till 3 1/2, i'm a HUGE fan of breastfeeding in public and all other types of breastfeeding but I was horrified to read all i've been reading about what this person has done. It's a massive insult to those who campaign to normalise breastfeeding.

You DO NOT expect a place who is strict about age restrictions to make allowences for breastfeeding mothers, especially for babies who are toddlers. There was no need whatsoever for that child to be taken anywhere for a feed past bedtime and to push that just to suit an agenda is bloody stupid.

I really hope it bites you on the arse... no common sense here whatsoever. Having the booking cancelled was neither here nor there.. she shouldn't have asked in the first place

What eve said a million times only

This is not a Breastfeeding issue

Am very informed about Breastfeeding thanks and fed my DD for years

There is not much room between the gates and a very fast main road - perhaps there was just not enough room for them to 'nurse-in'.
You are all utterly ridiculous.

But, it's not a breast feeding issue.
There are places that children are not allowed. That's the case whether they are breastfed or not

Gah ... this is all too gripping and distracting. I am supposed to be flipping WORKING today.

Mamagiraffe - I urge you not to make a fool of yourself.

Why did they cancel the booking? Were they threatened with a social media storm?

This has nothing to do with breastfeeding, it's highly relevant that she has done very similar before.

HaroldLloyd · 14/07/2014 13:37

I think that you are actually doing a disservice to breastfeeding mothers.

Gives the rest of us a bad name. This is not a breast feeding issue it a VIctoria's as drama queen issue. And I'm a peer breast feeding councillor who has fed 3 kids to 2/3.

I'm going with a big sign that says 'NO UNDER 16's'

Pissed off the other thread has been pulled as I cant find all the links.

I travel past it often. It is a dangerous road with no space outside of their property to do anything safely.

If I saw anyone outside with babies I would be ringing the police on the grounds they are putting their children in danger.

Report
EarthWindFire · 14/07/2014 13:38

She didn't make the booking her mother win a competition.

We only have bf mothers view what the reason for cancelling was.

This could very well blow up in her face. As others have said it is not a breast feeding issue and by keeping on insisting it is you are doing a huge disservice to those that bf!

Report
LittlePeaPod · 14/07/2014 13:39

Eh.. Why organise a breastfeeding sit in if its not a breastfeeding issue. Allegedly this same issue has occurred historically when she took the child to a different adult only establishment.

Having read her posts, posts on the FB and MN threads deleted. It's clear to me that this woman is a serial complainer. She comes across as very entitled

MN is pro supporting all women with breastfeeding and formula feeding. As with the other thread I doubt many will support this sit in. It does no favours to the valid breastfeeding discussion.

Agree that this is a load of bollocks, and shame on you for dragging an establishment's name through the mud for no reason at all.

Have followed this story on the mums of Taunton fb page and thought exactly the same of the comments posted there. Cedar falls have done nothing wrong.

Get a grip. You're just going to make yourselves look like a bunch of eejits.
