Even if she's not using it for the weekend I would ask very politely if its OK for guests to use it. I would hate the idea that the room I lived in, my space, wasn;t really my space at all but someone elses space that they allow me to use when it suits them but not when it doesn't.

You could ask, very politely, if she would mind allowing visitors to use it, but she's perfectly entitled to say no.
