What thread explains what MN is

I don't have children but MN has been there for me. I want my contemporaries to understand that this is more than kids and biscuits.

What threads have meant the most to you? Which discussions have made you feel proudest to be here?

Any one of the escape threads on relationships. Where someone posts asking for perspective on something that leads them to realise that they are being horribly abused, then visibly gains strength and gets themselves (and their children) free.

And stuff like the mnet tips, power of the hive mind .

Woolly hugs does it for me. Or the TTC buses. And just how much love and support Zombie has had during her journey with cancer.

The SN boards are like family. And yes, that means when we fall out we really fall out. But I think that board saved my life. Or at least completely changed how I parent and what I expect for DS in 'the system'.

I think the vast spread and range of information and knowledge available here, all so freely and generously given, is what makes MN so very special.

I remember one of the first threads I read was requesting information about the posible identity of "seed cases" found on a child's jumper. Within minutes of the first post these had been identified as tape worm segments, serious advice given as to immediate and future action, preventative measures suggested, a frantic mother soothed.

Add to that the humour and the fun of threads like Yoni and the current 1985 school lunch box thread, and it's hard to beat really.

The thread in which a woman posted in desperation after coming home to find her husband had left her entirely without warning and had cleared out their entire marital home down to his favourite condiments. Won't paraphrase the whole story here, save to say both she and his mistress gave birth within months of each other and it seems she got a huge amount of support from MN. She still posts.
