Wow, I don't know what I'm more disgusted by
His views, or them being shrugged off by the main party

BumPotato · 02/05/2014 11:35

Even if I was wanting to make a protest vote, I couldn't vote for them. I'd feel dirty, and not in a good way.

pointythings · 02/05/2014 11:41

They had an item on PM on Radio 4 yesterday debunking UKIP's claim that they're being singled out for scrutiny and that all the other parties have just as many fruitcakes as they do. Conclusion was that no, other parties don't. They attract/recruit the worst specimens of so-called humanity and don't seem to care, except when they're found out.

Also, what I find surprising is that Farage has admitted on air that UKIP has 'no policies' and yet they're fielding hundreds of candidates. So what do those candidates think they're standing for? It's quite bizarre.

Yawn at yet another UKIP thread.

Hell no! I'm going to prtest vote, but it will be the Green party I think. I definitely wouldn't vote for anyone hateful, and UKIP is hateful.

To paraphrase a sign I saw on the news yesterday, they are the 'Sad scared old white men' party.

Report
GatoradeMeBitch · 02/05/2014 11:55

They are merely the protest vote for anyone who hates minority races, muslims, gay people and women. Of course they don't have policies!

Report
ThePriory · 02/05/2014 11:59

Unfortunately there are a small minority that actually agree with these sorts of things.
(not me!!!)

I got told today that people make up thses nasty things about UKIP to make people turn against them. Hmm

I was flabbergasted.

"yawn at another UKIP thread"

Well sorry, but it is that attitude that will get them elected! A poll by ComRes for ITN news gives Ukip 52% in the west mids. The more people talk about what they are really like the better....

I'm going to protest vote, but it will be the Green party I think.

Out of Interest, what are the Green Party policies that are going to benefit the average voter? Only asking as they seem to be a Mumsnet favourite.

I (like 95% of the population) will never read their manifesto so, in a nutshell, what do they offer that the others don't?

The more people talk about what they are really like the better....

On the other hand, the more these stories come out, the more people seem to be attracted to them!!

Maybe people are fed up with the press trying to influence people (not very subtly)....

Why not just read it then, as you're asking 'out of interest'?

Report
8thNameChange · 02/05/2014 14:12

Because I'm asking for a summary of why the Greens are the MN party of choice...

When I have time to spare I may peruse their manifesto, but I'm genuinely interested why people think they'd be good for the people of the country.

There are people who wont admit to voting UKIP that will deny they will/do.

I however will be voting UKIP.

Does nobody else have any concern that people are being manipulated by these media stories? That link is from 2012 so, vile though it is, why would it resurface now?

The established parties are running scared and the "establishment" are trying frantically to discredit them. I wouldn't vote for them personally but let's all be aware and cynical when these stories appear

Report
ginghamcricketbox · 02/05/2014 14:27

Looks great but who is going to pay for it

Report
worldgonecrazy · 02/05/2014 14:29

piscivorous the links are surfacing now because this is the first time that UKIP have actually had any form of popularity, so there are those who are concerned about the type of people they put up as candidates who want the general public to be aware of the views espoused by UKIP supporters and candidates.

At the very least, wouldn't you want a politician/MP who was at least clever enough to know to keep such views off the internet?

Report
meddie · 02/05/2014 14:33

The more they try to discredit them the stronger their support will get. You have to remember they are appealing to a disaffected majority, to people who feel they are not being listened to and those who feel threatened by immigration and the low paid working. I,m sorry but slinging mud at them will have the opposite effect to what the major three hope to achieve.

A) they are giving them airtime and publicity by doing it.

B) people already hate the big three and hearing them slagging of a party, that to them seems like an alternative that is listening to them, will only get peoples backs up and make them more determined to vote. I actually think people who usually cant be arsed to vote now will 'just to stick it to the big three'.

c) By not addressing UKIP's manifesto and just mud slinging they are appearing as threatened and concerned, makes them look petty and weak.

NB I am not a UKIP voter but I know enough people who intend to vote for them and this mud slinging is pissing them off even more and making them more determined to vote UKIP rather than give any of the big three their vote

Report
worldgonecrazy · 02/05/2014 14:34

UKIP don't actually have a manifesto to address . . .

Report
meddie · 02/05/2014 14:39

exactly. Thats what they should be addressing, not this pathetic name calling and 'your candidates a fruitcake' attacks, its doing them no favours.

Report

Goodness, how ridiculous.

What about hideous Tony Blair for a start and Cryil Smith? The wonderful Lib Dem, who liberally applied himself to the most vulnerable in our society, boys in care homes Shock.

meddie

I agree!

Amazing that the zeolots can't see what they are doing, frothing like rabid dogs slinging mud. Its this response thats driven people to UKIP in the first place.

they are appearing as threatened and concerned, makes them look petty and weak

A party of basically one man, Nigel, and his fruit cake candidates are causing a fantastic storm....why do these people care?

Why not ignore, let everything simply die down, even talking about UKIP is advertising them and keeping their name in the fore front of peoples minds.....
