I have a lovely glass of wine, but he is running around cleaning.

We are going away tomorrow, nobody will be here till Tuesday.

As long as there is no dirty dishes ( we have a dishwasher) the bins are empty and toilet flushed, who actually deep cleans before holidays.

You smell your own house's family scent like a visitor would when you come home from holiday.

I do too. Sorry.

No point in a holiday if you have to come back and despair at the state of your house. I have enough trouble tackling the post holiday laundry basket.

I hate coming home to a messy house (and that's usually want we come home too!). It's made worse by the fact the only 'holidays' we go on are weekends to FIL's, where their house is pristine and decorated to a high standard. It makes the contrast even worse. If he wants to clean just let him get on with it.

I clean before we go away. I also change the bedlinen the morning we leave if there's time, or the day before we go if we're setting off very early.

Clean before we go here too - nothing worse than coming home to a messy house.

MrsDavidBowie Fri 02-May-14 07:33:27

Yes me too ..clean house before we go

heartichoke Thu 01-May-14 23:35:26

I'm yet another 'clean before you go' types... Not only because it's really nice to come back to, but also because neighbours always come in to feed the cat while I'm away, and I'd be ashamed for them to see how we usually live!!!! grin

RedSoloCup Thu 01-May-14 23:18:38

I always clean and tidy, I enjoy holiday more then smile

ICanSeeTheSun Thu 01-May-14 23:15:34

He is doing all the driving as well.

lessonsintightropes Thu 01-May-14 23:13:45

So nice to come back to a clean house, but so rare I get around to it other than a cursory tidy up and straighten for the cat sitter blush I would revel with a glass of wine that it will be so nice on your return (and maybe do your turn when you're back if you're on holiday mode, DH is always grateful when I come home and cook and fuss when he wants to sit down after a long drive).

Enjoy your trip - cheers! wine

What a lovely thing of your hubby to do! Most ladies would kill for a bloke like that grin

EverythingsDozy Thu 01-May-14 23:10:02

That's a very good point! I always shut the baby gate on the stairs just in case the burglar doesn't know how to use them too!

ICanSeeTheSun Thu 01-May-14 23:09:06

Everything, I hope the burglars will think this place has already be targeted find some where else smile

Dontlaugh Thu 01-May-14 23:08:21

Have to clean before hols here.
What would the burglars say?!
Nothing like coming home to a freshly made bed.

EverythingsDozy Thu 01-May-14 23:03:04

I always think "what would the burglars say if it was this messy?" grin

BackforGood Thu 01-May-14 23:00:24

Well I certainly don't. The day before the holiday starts, I'm packing, not cleaning.

Methe Thu 01-May-14 22:58:27

There is nothing in the world worse than coming home from holiday to a messy house I know there actually is, don't feeling obliged to point it out

My house is the cleanest it ever is the night before a holiday.

JustSquirted Thu 01-May-14 22:55:33

Me, I do this too.
I hate coming home to stuff that needs done.

ICanSeeTheSun Thu 01-May-14 22:51:38

I think he has finished now. I could pack the car.

gamerchick Thu 01-May-14 22:50:24

I do a deep clean before a holiday.. it's bloody awesome coming home to a clean, ready to use, organised house..

You could have helped.. then it would have been done quicker grin

EverythingsDozy Thu 01-May-14 22:49:03

I mop myself to the door and then go out for a few hours so the floors can dry uninterrupted. I love mopping!

puntasticusername Thu 01-May-14 22:47:25

I remember reading Kim from off of Kim 'n' Aggie saying that when she goes on holiday she "hoovers herself out of the door" because she can't stand returning to a dirty house. While I wouldn't go that far, I can see her point.

I also love the image of someone "hoovering herself out of the door".

Bet she trips over the hoover when she comes back in, though, in her sunglasses and lugging her heavy cases...

ICanSeeTheSun Thu 01-May-14 22:40:31

Perhaps I should offer to help.

EverythingsDozy Thu 01-May-14 22:37:46

I absolutely adore coming home from holiday to a spanking house. It's up there with going to bed with freshly washed and ironed bed sheets after a bath - bliss!
My sister, on the other hand, I can imagine what her house looks like right now (she is currently on holiday). It will look worse than mine and I am still very much here with two messy children!

Quintestinal Thu 01-May-14 22:33:22

"who actually deep cleans before holidays." I do! I want it sparkling on my return. Otherwise I might cry. sad
