To be a bit upset with this resonse?

Yesterday I posted about my dd's new car seat which was cutting into the back of her legs. After some helpful suggestions and sitting dd in it to work out what was causing the problem, I found that some decorative piping across the bottom of the seat where her legs rest was causing the marks on her legs.

I wrote to Kiddicare to state my concern about this and have had a bit of a crap reply as follows:

"I am afraid this is not a manufacturing fault, the section is raised and will leave marks where the legs are resting. If this has only been used the once and you have the original packaging you can return this to us if unsuitable for your needs.

Kind Regards"

Would you be happy with this as a reply? I'm not able to send it back as the box has been outside with the recycling and is now mushy! I don't know what I was expecting them to say, but I just don't feel they're particularly caring that this product can cause children quite a bit of discomfort. AIBU to feel this way? What should I do now?

What did you want them to say? They've said you can return it in its packaging which is more than reasonable. It was daft of you to dispose of the packaging before you were sure you were happy imho

You do not need the original box to send it back, only proof of purchase.

I would be tweeting them or going on their Facebook page and seeing if you can get a different response on there.

If the pipping is literally cutting into her legs then it is fault, yes.

OP - is it soft pipping simply leaving a little line, like a sock might, or is it really causing damage to the skin?

I'm sorry but I think Kiddicare are right and they are actually being generous in letting you return it after you've used it.

Any raised piping is going to leave a mark. It hasn't actually cut into your DDs legs.

That's if there is a fault, which there doesn't appear to be. When you say 'cutting into the back of her legs' do you mean it's red, raw and the marks don't fade when she's not in the car seat? What brand is it? Have you checked reviews to see if anyone else is having the same problem?

Surely it is design fault though. When you use it next could you take pictures of the marks and show them to the company?

Even though it's their fault, you can't return it. I'd get a soft fleece blanket and put that on the seat, you can pick them up cheaply at Dunelm mill. Cut holes in it if necessary for the seat belt straps to go through.
